i took out an 80mm fan from a psu and am wondering if i can use that fan as a regular cae fan. it only has a 2 hole plug.

Yes; you can get 2-prong to 3-prong or 2-prong to Molex adapters anywhere that sells computer parts. However, fans with only a 2-prong plug will not work properly with anything that monitors fan speed (it always sees the speed as 0).

just be careful. psu's can retain high amounts of power after being unplugged. do not touch the big capacitors. just string the fan cable through the grill, thatswhat i do.

i've run into some PS fans that use a "proprietary" connection as well...not the normal *2* pin conn . . although you could always cut it off, wire on a normal 2 or 4 pin and be set... done that w/ a few ps's that gone bad w/ good fans still.
