The season of award shows kicked off Sunday night with Michael Moore's controversial film Fahrenheit 9/11 winning the People's Choice Award for favourite movie. "We live in a great country and we all love our country very much and I am so amazed that you did this - the people of America; that you voted for this film," said a laughing Moore as the audience cheered wildly. "I'm honoured and gratified." He dedicated the award to those who are fighting in Iraq.
US fans voted Fahrenheit 911 their favourite movie of 2004 in the 31st Annual People's Choice Awards, picking politics over the animation and fantasy flicks also nominated.
Accepting the award at a glittering ceremony near Los Angeles today, the winning film's controversial director Michael Moore dedicated it to American parents who have children serving in Iraq.
''We live in a great country and we all love our country very much, and I am so amazed that you did this, the people of America, that you voted for this film,'' Moore said as he accepted it.
The movie, which became the best-selling documentary of all time, beat out Spiderman 2, Shrek 2 and The Incredibles.
''I love making movies and I'll take this as an invitation to make more Fahrenheit 9/11s,'' Moore said of his unabashedly partisan look at the handling of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and the US war in Iraq that merciless flays President George Bush.
Don't you love it when people scared of the message have made this movie such a big deal.
Good job getting the word out MM!
now watch the haters bash the credibility of the movie again and again
oh yeah and for the whiners Factual Back-Up For Fahrenheit 9/11: Section One
