I bought a case and the 80mm and 120mm case fans happen to be sleeve bearing fans. Their coolermaster like the case, but how long will they last? All I know about sleeve bearing fans is that they are quiet but dont last as long. So will they fail in 2 years, 1 year?

sleeve bering fans are rated to last about 30,000 hours compared to 50,000 or more for ball bearing fans. No worries, these fans will last you years and years......you'll most likely throw them away or replace them with better ones before they die.

Fan Life Expectance: 30,000 hrs
Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
Voltage Rating: 12V
Input Current: 0.06 (0.07 max)
Input Power: 0.72W (0.864 max)
Noise Level: 21.96dBA
Connector: 4-pin

Fan Dimension: 120x120x25 mm
Fan Speed: 1200 rpm
Fan Airflow: 42.865 CFM
Fan Air Pressure: 1.080 mm-H2O
Fan Life Expectance: 30,000 hrs
Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
Voltage Rating: 12V
Input Current: 0.06 (0.07 max)
Input Power: 0.72W (0.864 max)
Noise Level: 16.4 dBA

I think I might get something a little better than this. Good to know I should be ok if I get some sleeve bearing fans.

You'll be fine, I wouldn't use them on my CPU as that will speed up there degredation, but otherwise, I have two Nexus fans in my case and love them!

If they start to make a buzzing/humming noise, that's a sign that they're on the way out. I've personally had bad luck with sleeve bearings. Maybe yours will be better.

sleeve fans are usually quieter but dont' last as long. I've revived several of them by removing the sticker in the back and dropping some oil in there.
ball-bearing fans usually last longer but louder

They should last a coupla years, anyway, particularly if you clean them occasionally, even better if the environment is clean. Dirt and grunge kill bearings, particularly sleeve bearings.

As mindwreck says, they can be oiled if they start to chatter or squawk as a temporary measure while new fans are on the way, when and if it comes to that. Non-detergent oil is best, like special electric motor oil or non-detergent engine oil...
