fanbus.. power supply question.

Okay.. here's the situation;
I got a no name case, and I want to add one 120 mm fan, and two 80 mm fans.. I have a 300 watt no name power supply. Now, to make my fan bus, I am just using some switches, LED's and I'm running all three of these fans (12V) off of one power supply lead. Does anyone think that this will do harm to the power supply? Three fans sucking off of one of those plugs?

Out put is out put, I dont think it matters. I have my harddrive and 2 fans on one lead and never experance any problems

I don't think you have to worry about damaging anything, I've never done it myself, but I know a lot of guys running that kind of set up. Where you need to worry is having a good power supply to run the Mobo and CPU. Some of the newer chipsets really will challenge the lower power supplies.
Go with a good power supply and you should be fine.

I've got a generic 300 watt power supply. On my fanbus, I have 2x80mm and 1x120mm fans. I have 4 case fans and the Delta on my HSF and have had no problems related to the power supply.

On all the PSs that I have opened, the wires from all molex plugs are soldered together inside the PS. I mean, it doesnt really matter wether you plug all hardware on 1 molex, provided the PS can handle the draw.

About 300W, this is the total power of the PS. 2 particular lines (I think 12V and 5V, not sure) are used by the MB and CPU. Good PSs show the amp rate for these lines. Stability also is key. I have 2 durons running both on A7Vs, using different PSs. On one of them, Asus probe warns me of voltage problems almost daily. Never on the other, so I'm considering replacing the first one.

well, that's the rating.

what you want to know is the actual 12v + 5 v output, which ranges from 130 W to like 150W for good PSes.

and it does matter what brand, because cheap PSes do die.

i maxed out my 300W sparkle (rated 135W, 12+5).
