Trying to find this for a discussion. The fan had its motor coils in the corners of its frame.

Anyone remember what it was?

What exactly does this fan bring to the table (other than design) that a regular fan doesn't?

Nothing. Which is why it failed.

Now, had they done a magnetic suspension so they could have dispensed with the hub - there would have been an interesting product.

"Bitspower, however, sent me a Socket A/370 CPU cooler with a 70mm TMD fan on it. And, conveniently, two other coolers that use the exact same heat sink as the TMD-fan one, but have normal 80mm fans on them instead."

OH SHIT BP Made fans?????

Incase u guys want to know BP is now entirely a WC vendor.

I had literally a ton of reels of hydrophone recordings from the 90s if that's what you mean. ;)

Actually Whale sex is still quite the mystery, because they go super private and extremely deep. This only applies to HUGE whales, smaller whale sex is nothing interesting.

omg we have 2 whale peepers on our forum! :ninja:

:p

were just messing with you guys, so please dont take any offense.

The various dialect of Odontoceti in general is fascinating and and when one breaks down the complex waveforms and sees the information there it's mind boggling. As a bonus it makes great samples for some major polyphonic space music riffs! :awe:

I love reading about this stuff. Fans and whales and hydrophones. BTW - the vid I linked to has the sound of the fan spinning up. It's an interesting sound that reminds me of the physical sirens on police cars when I was young, back when the whales' ancestors walked the earth . . .

Yes when first fired up the growl sounded like a thunderbolt 1000 air raid siren when its chopper first comes to life. For those old enough to remember those drills in school...

The sound I have OTOH actually captures the high frequency whine that reminds me of voltage multipliers charging up all ready to shock you with four inch sparks with potentials of 100s of kilovolts. :awe:

great promising design.. but it was just implemented badly by ys tech. The one fan they had, that 70mm version was noisey. It pushed a lot of air and closed blades gave it good pressure, but it wasnt a standard size. and that killed it.

I still have mine and i do like powering it up occasionally. The turbine noise is loud but i like it. haha

they couldn't impliment it well within the price range. bearings on the rim are going to go pretty damn fast...its just not a good idea.
