No big surprize actually. Its a good fan but don't compare the prices with other brands which charge much of it for thier name.
 
Hehe... I went to a surplus/pawn shop, and they had a big box of computer parts labeled '50 cents'.

There were about 4 fans in the box, looked to be pulled from an older server box. Anyway - I needed some case fans, so I bought em... they're worth every penny just because they work ;-)

And because they're loud as hell and push enough air for me to feel it about 2-3 feet away from the case.
 
Wow that's cheap. It looks new too. Wasn't there when I was buying fans from them a month ago.

You are a 'tard. You could in fact run it at ~1800RPM and get ~ 24.4dBA which, since you don't seem to be able to figure these things out for yourself, is pretty quiet. For $1.49, find a better deal for us, or shut your pie hole.

If you drop the RPM of a fan, you reduce the amount of air it moves (CFM).
If you drop the RPM of this fan to 1800 to make it 24dBA, its CFM drops to 24.5.

In comparison, this fan has a 24CFM at only 21dBA. That is half as loud (3dB lower).

Yes, this fan is cheap. For a good reason!

The problem is that the best you can do with the design of a fan is to eliminate the noise of its motor. But, the noise from the air movement remains. After all, a fan is supposed to move air.

You can completely eliminate the noise of the motor by placing the fan in another room and using a pipe to bring the air to the PC. This of course is a ridiculous idea since the resistance of the pipe will dramatically reduce the air flow. But, if you can imagine an ideal imaginary pipe with no resistance! The air that moves out of the pipe and into the PC will go through obstacles like the grid or the components inside the case. This movement of air through obstacles creates noise. You cannot eliminate this kind of noise by changing the fan.

Yes, that Panaflo fan is very nice. In fact, I have a couple of them in one of my PSU's, and I must say they are almost completely silent. And I would also say that twice as loud as almost silent is, for all intents and purposes, pretty fvcking quiet. And considering the the Panaflo costs over 7 times as much and cannot push more than 24 CFM (@12v), you can't exactly call it a "killer deal."
