I'm getting an SLK 947u heatsink, but I have no clue what fan I should use with it. Any sugestions are more than welcome. I'm cooling a Mobile Athlon 2400+, BTW.

Good heatsink, if you want maximum cooling that you can hear, buy this for it: 92mm Vantec Tornado. But remember, there's more than one reason why it's called a Tornado. With those two combined, before overclocking, temps of ~30C under load are possible, if you have good case airflow. Now, if you are wanting quiet, then find yourself a 92mm Panaflo. But the Panaflo is going to severely limit your overclocking abilities, if you're interested in OCing.

All fans make noise.. they all suck IMO which is why after hundreds of dollars later trying many so called "quiet fans" I don't use any.

But sleeve fans make the least noise like the panaflo for example. Go to newegg and search for sleeve 92mms.

DO NOT GET THAT PANAFLO. it's a H1A.. H meaning high speed. Look for L1A maning low speed and you could end you search by finding a PABST 3412 N/2GL

What Panaflo? I linked him to a 92mm Vantec Tornado, just like the link read. Of course it makes some noise. Of course, it also cools like no other cpu fan on earth.:D

Thank you. At this point I'm not Really concernd about noise. I am going to overclock but I'm modding my case to fit an industrial strength ebm fan like the ones we use at work, 240CFM at no preassure. The thing is noisy but I can enclose the tower and reduce my noise. With proper baffling I'll have the coolest case running on air available (if all goes well). Props to the Mech Engineers at work.

Dang, nevermind, don't get the Tornado, just figure out a way to get one of those fans attached to your 947u.:D Prometia temps on air!:D

the tornado is by far the champion for cpu cooling fans at 119cfm, however, if you're going to go with that much noise, i highly suggest you buy a rheobus or nexus fan controller or something. you can turn it up full blast when necessary and turn it down when not. your temps will only raise about 3C when you turn it down to the lowest (vantec nexus), and it's dead quiet.

No. I'm attaching the fan to the case. I still need something conventional for the HSF. I will go with the tornado. I cannot put the EBM on a HSF. At least I think I cant. Hmmmm *rubs chin*

I have an SLK-947U Hsk as well and put a 92 Tornado on it. It fits just fine. I have heard it said, though, that an 80mm will actually cool the 947u better because it more closely fits the HSK, where the 92 overhangs a bit.
