Greetings members I have an GTX 580 Direct CU II model. From the start of buying my card I have some issues, but I do not know whether it is an issue or not. Sometimes in my card one the fan in the two fans is not running. But if I restart or reconnect the card again after 3 or 4 attempts it starts. I have given the card to an local Asus service centre they said that " It has an sensor in it so if heat exceeds the limit the second fan will start automatically" is that true guys? Please help me with this guys.

UPDATE: I have called the Asus indian hotline number. They also said it has an sensor in it. But my gut feeling I'm still not satisfied with their answer.

Who about you run some GPU intensive game and see if both fans run? if so I guess they all are correct. In AMD's control panel there an option to control fans manually not sure about Nvidia, if there is one, you can give that a try..

Oh, btw, welcome to the forum!!

I would trust what ASUS support says; I haven't known them to intentionally mislead. That card is 3-slot and is made to run cool, and it does it well in comparisons. I have a several myself, though, so I will check mine out and let you know.

So, you won't trust 2 separate ASUS techs but the word of an unknown keyboard jockey is gospel?

If you want I can give you medical advice, that way you can skip going to the doctor.

I don't have my Matrix 580 in the machine, but I checked the 570, and it is idling, and both fans are running at low RPM. So I'm not sure what to tell you. The 570 and 580 are similar and they are different. The PCB and cooler are identical as far as I know, but the chip, logic, and possibly voltage/fan profiles could be different, so might the firmware revisions. I'd still trust two ASUS techs. They don't have anything to gain from misleading you.

thanks for your reply guys. As Jolt said previously at idle two fans were running for me as well, so I was confused. Lets see what happens. Only time will tell.
