Fan Noise

I have a Evga nforce 780i SLI motherboard which has a tiny fan on the northbrige. The problem is it sounds like a jet plane inside my computer. I can't seem to find a setting in the bios to adjust the fan speed. Does anyone know any tricks to quiet these motherboards down? Would a 3 pin fan controller work?

unplug it see what happens 🙂 i unplugged the one on my mobo and its been overclocked for 7 years and rock solid

Also do a touch test, if its not hot enough to burn your finger, then maybe all it needs is some passive cooling, maybe a DYI from an old video card or something. 🙂

Just unplugged it and I'll see what happens. The fan on the side of the case is blowing air directly on it, this might be enough to keep it cool anyway. Thanks for the suggestions.
