Fan header power limits?

Been a long time since I've bought a fan for a computer, just picked up the highest output Panaflo HSF had. Is it safe to run this thing off my motherboard header? It draws a little over 6W, & I see no limits mentioned in the manual.

NI8-SLI if it matters.

I do have an adapter to run it off of a 4-pin molex but I unfortunately don't hvae one that will give me RPM monitoring so if it's safe I'd like to run it off the motherboard.

I would check tech support at the boards homepage.

Generally, most CPU fan headers are good for 8W but ymmv. Server boards are generally good for more than 8W, from what I've read.
