Fan Filter Material

I have just been using the standard white filter material you can buy for home vents. Not very nice-looking, but does the job. I'd rather have something like I've seen in some cases. I's gray in color and very thin.

Is there something I can get in a roll?

I can't find the stuff myself, but I've been using material I've found at the fabric sections of hobby stores. Get some of the relly gauzy stuff, you should be able to see through it. They sell stuff that's as fine as the computer filter mesh, it's VERY cheap for a small amount, and you can choose whatever color they have available.

Dang. Anyway, there's a guy on SPCR who brags about modifying HEPA filters to fit into his computer. Of course, you'd need MORE airflow to compensate for the additional air resistance, thus increasing noise, so I don't get how he can do this and maintain a quiet computer.

If you have a local yocal auto parts store in your area, many of them are displaying this brand filter. Airflow (before infiltrated with dust over time, but is cleanable) is restricted less than 1%. The display at my local autoparts store is very impressive. They use 2 140mm in an airtight encasement and demostrate its airflow efficiency. Can't remember the price, but is very affordable. Could buy one and modify it to fit whatever you like.

the white "home air registers" air filters look kinda cool with a uv light in the case. and its easy to tell when they are dirty.

Wow, it would be interesting that my computer uses the same K&N type filter as my bike and my car.

Btw, most people put too much red oil in their K&N filters. It actually reduces the flo a little.

The filter itself looks/is nice.

Thought I was going over the top by using K&N pre-cleaner foam. Select filters at this link
and K&N pops up.

My filter is cut from this Text , I cut two and put one in a Zip-Lock bag very lightly pre-oiled. (K&N#25-3900) $20

K&N says that this foam reduces air flow 2% at FWOT. So a comp fan would be presented with very little restriction. Any spray a/f oil will do. I just spray one side let it set over night, then press it between a clean paper towel, to remove any excess. Good to go.

This foam is 5/8" thick. I made and installed a 1/2"x1/2" 90 degree aluminum frame to
retain this foam in front of my intakes. 1/4" mesh screen was installed first to prevent fan contact by the foam.

G/Y

ps: Most ppl over oil K&Ns because they are impatiant. A lite coat of oil then let it set over night. Then install and use.

My lian li filter is like the sponge you use to clean pans that thick aluminum type of spnge works great

yea, though it doesn't really catch the fine powery stuff. Still have to blow my interior every other month. but yea, for what it looks like, it's great!

I don't think those K&N filters will get rid of dust... since it is much smaller than dirt particles....

I think the best bet would be to use the HEPA filters..
