is there a easyway to tell what direction a case fan blows? other then powering it up .

and do they all blow the same way?

just wondering so i can have them all going the right way the first time and not have to take apart my system to fix them

thanks

jeff

Every fan I've ever seen blows to in the direction that the label faces. If there isn't one, you should be able to tell by the shape of the blades. It's hard to describe, but the fan blows the opposite direction that the blades "dip" in.

You can always take the side of the case off, plug the fans in without mounting them, and turn it on for a sec. Once you figure out which way they are spinning, turn it off and then mount them.

But the label does always seem to be on the "out" side like RfB said.

Almost all fans have two arrows located on the outside edge, one shows the direction of the spinning fan blades and the other output. These arrows can usually be found on the side with the power leads attached.
