Fan and cooling questions

I have the thermaltake v1 cpu fan and my cpu runs unusually hot for having that fan, it maxes at 54 C while running prime 95 and i want to know if all my fans are running at max, but i have no clue what speedfan is saying, heres a screenshot of speedfan.

Can i turn my fans up?
Which fan is my cpu fan? It says i have 9 fans so im sort of confused.

Side question, any reccomendations for a blue led 120 mm case fan? i was thinking this, i want it to be quiet and move a decent amount of air, but not a ton. because quiet and a lot of air dont go together.

Would 6 of these fans work well in an HAF 912 and would i be able to use all of them with a corsair 650W (not enthusiast or whatever the pricier one is).

Also, thanks for reading and i posted this in cpu's and overclocking because most cpu temps are used for overclocking (which ill be doing later). The 120mm fan question could be in cases and cooling but why make two threads?

If any of you have the time, i have another thread going about a budget computer im building someone for a gift.

In what fantasy world is 54ºC under full load using air cooling "unusually hot?"

54C is fine under full load, and it seems the fan is on medium speed, as its specs go to 2000 RPM

only thing that worries me - whats that 79C temp in speedfan? that isnt healthy for anything.

Im quoting this because that is what im unsure of... I dont know how to read what speedfan is saying haha. My graphics card is a 450 if that helps. Im not sure if they run hot, but ill be upgrading soon anyways. This person seems to have that problem too, it could be an error with gigabye motherboards because i have an 870aud3.

My cpu is 955 BE.

I said its unusually hot under full load because of these specs.

The benchmark DOES USE a different cpu though, so im not sure if its accurate, but i dont think amd should be running a full 10 C higher under full load.

Is 54 C under full load safe for overclocking? i read somewhere it shouldnt go over 50 but everyone says different things and not everyone is right.

Also, im assuming fan number 1 in the middle is my cpu fan, seeing as its in the middle of the v1 specs.

54 C is fine for that CPU. I run mine up to 60C.

I've had nothing but problems with speedfan. In many cases it just flat out does not do anything to my fan. I have no reason to trust anything it says.

I take it you overclocked? Im pretty sure your cooler is better than mien despite being the same price.
EDIT: never mind, looked at your specs and your at 3.8 GHz.

Yea im overclocked. Usually motherboards set the voltage very high for stock chips. My chip at stock was actually running around the same temp with the stock cooler.

Doesn't this belong in "Cases and Cooling"

Maybe, although I wanted to urge Zap to be a bit more gracious.

We use SpeedFan on a few machines. It had been great software, because for some older machines like my Springdale chipset and Northwood core, it did a good job of thermally controlling the CPU fan. And I've corresponded with the author -- "Almico."

Some of these sharewares arise from the hard work of individual, entrepreneurial programmers. But they just can't keep up with the CPU makers, the chipset makers, the motherboard builders. I think we see this with other programs, like CoreTemp, CPU-Z, RealTemp, etc. for versions that had long preceded the Z68 chipset.

So as much as anyone else wants to argue about those shareware/freeware programs -- and they ARE great, indeed -- I'd advise to use the monitoring and control software that came with the motherboard, and upgrade that software until you can trace the revision dates on our popular shareware to a point after board release and a BIOS revision or two.

You have to tweak speed fan to get it to report some things with any accuracy. I haven't the time. It's a marvelous program. But it reports enough erroneous and confusing sh . . stuff -- that I choose other alternatives.

As for the ThermalTake V1. Certainly a good cooler, but I saw a review in which the competitor products were cherry-picked to give the V1 a -- heh-he -you figure it out . . . . a "Kick-Ass 9." The expensive two-page color ad appeared opposite the last page of the review. But . . . a good cooler, nevertheless, despite better ones, and my suspicion of "implicit payola" "You scratch my back, I'll drive your Jag." Or "We'll pay big for the ad if you hype the cooler in your review."
