Wrestling = a step above Barney the Purple Dinosaur when it comes to IQ of said fans.

It's Ric Flair...

The fact that people actually watch and follow wrestling just boggles my mind.

The fact that someone has died engaging in such entertainment leaves me phuggin clueless.

When I heard someone broke their neck "wrastlin" all I could do was laugh at the stupidity. What a waste of life.

The backyard one where people get drunk before going at it can be pretty entertaining

Just the idea of 2 sweaty men hugging on each other with pitiful acting performance does not enthuse me much. At least with gay porn you get to see some real action...

Heh. Last year, it was agreed that pro wrestling could come back to Portland, OR after an almost 20 year ban. For those who don't know, Portland had a huge pro wrestling scene prior to the NWA/WCW/WWF/WWE emergence in the '80s. Piper, Billy Jack, Oliver, even Andre and Hogan. Anyway, the new law allowing pro wrestling back in defined it as **drumroll** "a competitive sport in which the outcome is determined in advance".

Bah, wrestling these days is for nancy boys. I loved the days of Dick the Bruiser, the Crusher, Gorilla Monsoon, Killer Kowalski, Bruno Sammartino, Mad Dog Vachon, et. al. Those were the days of great wrestlers and great wrestling. Of course, I was just a kid so that might have something to do with it. :)

lol, just found this bio on Dick the Bruiser: A face only a mother could love.

I don't see how it's much different intelectually than other mindless shows like the OC that people here don't have a problem with.

Brandon Lee died making the crow, so how do you feel about movies?

Jackie Chan gets fscked up shooting movies as much as any wrestler does in the ring. I guess he's a waste of life too, huh?

Wrestling is a soap opera for guys. I put it the same level as day time tv and anything on the WB.

How come delivering a drop kick doesn't hurt if you connect, but can lay you out if you miss?

That doesn't make any sense. Do actors not realistically portray their roles? Yea, it'd be great if in The Matrix - the lobby scene - Keanu Reeves after killing all the agents in the lobby looked at the camera and said: "this is not real - it's just a movie, we do not condone killing government agents". Wrestlers are athletic actors. They act a role on TV. That's it. Once upon a time, yes, they claimed it was real. That has not been the case for well over 10-15 years. There's a reason why it's called WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT now. Your logic makes no sense.

Uh so what's your point? You don't think Jackie Chan is really kicking all those guys asses do you? So what's the difference then? One is in front of a camera, the other is in front of an audience.

good god. keanu reeves doesn't go around saying he's really a fighter for zion against the machines of the matrix!! he says he's an actor, that he pretends. something he readily admits.

if wrestlers were honest, they'd just call themselves acting stuntmen.

It's hard not to pretend/act when you're an actor. I don't think I've ever seen an actual wrestling article where a wrestler says "yea I really hate that punk ass guy Stone Cold, what you see is for real" - it goes more along the lines of "Stone Cold is a great wrestler, we have a lot of fun when we have our matches - it's always intense and the crowd always gets into it". How is that different from being an actor? It's not. And the majority of wrestlers nowadays are trained in amateur style wrestling or at least the techniques. They ARE wrestlers.
