Famous Atheist Now Believes in God

I thought this might hold some interest for this particular crowd in P&N because it's not just your average Bible-thumper or whatever, it's a learned professor who has changed his ideas on God based on scientific evidence he has observed, not just a emotional or spiritual conversion he has undergone (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

"I'm thinking of a God very different from the God of the Christian and far and away from the God of Islam, because both are depicted as omnipotent Oriental despots, cosmic Saddam Husseins," he said. "It could be a person in the sense of a being that has intelligence and a purpose, I suppose."

I'd agree with him.

scratch that, hospice requires a present and caring entity you have a back and forth with,
faith is much more like masturbation

Remember also that Stephen Hawkings, one of the few humans capable of even coming near to understanding the underworking physics to the makeup of the universe, has also said he believes there is an underlying intelligence behind the creation of everything. He said this because when you look at the workings behind the layout of the universe there is a consistent pattern and there are recurring mathematical themes. Patterns generally=intelligence. This is much like what the SETI program looks for, patterns. Almost everything out there is completely random and chaotic. So signs of patterns to the actual makeup and layout of the universe really points to an intelligence behind its creation. 😀
