Family rescues kidnap victim and kills kidnapper

While I applaud the family that helped her, how long do you think it will be before the kidnappers family squawks to the media "They should have called the police! They didn't need to kill him! They should not get away with vigilante justice!"

I'd like to be on that jury.

Yeah that would give everybody a chuckle for sure!

Now there's an interesting name. Arceneaux. I like it.

Yep, I have a lot of family in Louisiana. My family comes from a long line of slaves and we have a LOT of creole people in our family in Louisiana! Some pretty interesting first and last names down there. I have a cousin named Etienne that speaks french.

Thank the French, lol

Looks like the police were already searching in another area. But family luckily found her in an abandoned house based on a tip. I think their actions were justified since her life was threatened. 🙁

Good, the family did what they needed to do to save her.

One article mentions that when the kidnapper began stabbing the woman, he was shot by a family member. If that family was smart, all of them should refuse to name who shot the kidnapper. And if they got rid of the gun then there is no murder weapon. With that many people in the house and if they are all tight lipped about what happened, I can't see how any criminal AND civil action can be filed. of course I agree with the killing of the kidnapper in this case...

As of now, no charges have been pressed against anyone in the Arceneaux family. Judice confirmed that initial investigations into the incident revealed that the Arceneauxs were acting in defense of the victim.

You got to wonder if that would be the case in a few other states I could name.

But regardless, good fucking riddance. If the family's charged with some bullshit I'll start a fundraiser for their legal fees.

Why would they need to lie about who shot him. He was stabbing her, they had no choice. If the police had a heart, they wouldnt even talk about charges.

The big IF... The prosecutor in that jurisdiction may still decide to bring charges for whatever reason. The family of the kidnapper may still elect to bring a wrongful death suit or whatever bullshit charge. The kidnapper's friends/family may decide to exact their own revenge.

The less people know about what you do, the better it is. Especially those who have power/ability to make your life difficult. If the entire family plays stupid about who shot the kidnapper, it really would be easier on the shooter.

Because sometimes asshole DAs decide to make examples of people. Particularly people who exact vigilante justice. Granted this is Louisiana, but if a family tried something like that in the North East they'd likely be in some VERY hot water.

Best to cover all your bases. Just have everyone say it was a chaotic environment and no one's sure who shot the guy.

I'd call it defense and/or justice, but there doesn't seem to be anything vigilante about it to me. The dude walked in and saw a woman getting stabbed to death, so he used an appropriate amount of force to save her. Obviously I wasn't there, but I'm guessing the kidnapper wouldn't have been killed if he wasn't actively stabbing the woman. I'm not trying to argue about the definition of a word, but it really doesn't seem "vigilante" in any capacity to me.

Edit: Also, the family likely didn't set out specifically to kill the kidnapper. I think the guy was more concerned with finding his family member and less concerned about killing the kidnapper.

Hopefully, they shot him in the head a couple of times so the kidnapper's family cannot have an open-casket funeral.

Agreed, but I can still see an asshole DA trying to twist it. The fact that they were armed when they started the search kinda kills the "innocent search party" defense.
