UPDATE

What a strange week. My sister is still in the hospital. Her condition has not changed after 3 days. They do not know how long it will be before she will be ok.

None of her friends seem to know what happened and her car is missing. Hopefully when we find her car there will some clues as to what really happened.

I did not see the original series of posts about your sister's situation, but I can offer a couple of opinions, based on some personal experiences:

The drug use may or may not have caused or contributed to her current medical condition.

It is entirely within the realm of possibility that she was teetering on the edge of a psychotic episode due to an undiagnosed mental condition. The drug use, past and present, may have masked symptoms or enabled her to function at a somewhat "normal" level until the condition reached a point where nothing could prevent a collapse.

Reporting her drug use earlier might have prevented her from continuing their use, but may very well have had no effect on whether or not she would lapse into a psychotic state (which is what she appears to be in right now, based on your updates). It also may or may not have enabled someone to catch the symptoms of her condition sooner.

In either case, you and she and your Dad are all legally adults, responsible for your own lives. You did the best you could under the circumstances given.

Don't browbeat yourself over what might have been - you're doing what you can by staying in touch and being as supportive as you can be. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your sister, I hope they can help her straighten things out.

It doesn't happen very often, but I have to agree with Chess9. This kind of thing is best left to people that know what they're doing instead of people here on AT (despite their mostly good intentions).

Weed by itself will not do that kind of thing to a person, but it's been shown time and time again that weed (just like alcohol or tobacco) is indeed a stepping stone for individuals that are vulnerable. Many people will say "ah, there's nothing wrong with some weed", and that's fine for them, but I've seen the devastating effects it can have on people, just like alcohol.

Dedpuhl, there's probably not much you could have done to prevent this situation. You talked to your parents about it, and its' their responsibility to take further action. It was gonna take something drastic before she got the treatment she needed.

Another Update

We found my sister's car. It was parked behind a Walgreens near where she was last seen before the first Mardi Gras Parade in my town. Her wallet was in there and nothing seemed to be missing. It looks like she just parked to go to the parade.

Her condition is no better. One of the nurses made a comment to my dad about a similar case of a guy who smoked weed laced with formaldehyde. He was showing similar symptons as my sister. It took him several weeks before he was "sane."

No improvement in 4 days. Whatever she took was some baaaaaaaaaaad shyte...

If we find the person(s) who gave her this, they will need some formaldehyde.

That sucks. Pure weed I think is no worse than alcohol except that its illegal, but that is it...

The problem of course is that since weed is illegal people get it through various means, some of which include it being laced with crap (can happen with any drugs I suppose). Hope she gets better.

First of all, I can almost garuntee that she new it was laced, VERY rarely will weed be laced without the user knowing.

Except they tend to become paranoid, antisocial, morons! Becoming a slave to anything is bad for your soul.

I'm glad you found the car, although sorry that it didn't offer better clues as to what happened. Hopefully, your sis will make a full recovery and get the helps she needs.
