Everything peter plays is a movie or theme song of a TV show. I don't remember which song you are refering too, but I remember these:
Dallas
Nine to Five
The Incredible Hulk
The X-Files
Mary Tyler Moore

Thats why Mary Richards throws her hat in the air at the end of the Mary Tyler Moore show theme as she did in the opening credits of the Mary Tyler Moore show.
