Family Guy and Conway Twitty

I know the Family Guy jokes tend to run on too long, but spending like 2 minutes on Conway Twitty was lazy and stupid. I had to hit the FF button on my DVR. They've really gone downhill and I own all the DVD sets up to this point. Seems like they rely more on lame political humor or gay/toilet humor lately. American Dad has passed Family Guy up for sure imo....and I was a HUGE FG fan.

Why is Conway Twitty's mouth so small for his face?
 
I'm glad I watched that episode on the computer - having to sit through that live probably would've resulted in a changed channel. Not exactly too surprising by the FG crew - they've been really weak for a while now.
 

You guys are confused. The jokes in that show aren't for you, they're inside gags for the production crew and slams on celebrities that Seth McFarlane hates. They have been for like three seasons now. You guys didn't notice?

Um, yeah, but Seth McFarlane should stop wasting 2 minutes of the show on crap that isn't funny and start pleasing his viewers. We need more chicken fights.
 
Yeah that was kinda lame, even Lois grabbing her tit after falling was a little overdone, nothing is going right for FG this season. Thankfully American Dad picked up the slack most weeks, not to mention can be funny without flashbacks and is devoid of shenanigans like Conway Twitty.
 
I agree, the Conway Twitty was damn annoying...I FFwd through it and it was damn long. Sometimes those kinds of clips are ok, but that one was just way too damn long and stupid.
 
I thought the EP was hilarious, but then again, I dvr and FF through all the ridiculously long 2 minute BS clips.

It is what it is - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

You poor, poor dear. Why don't you e-mail Seth McFarlane's publicist's assistant's intern to inquire whether Mr. McFarlane cares?
 
McFarlane always claims that he and his crew only do the minimum amount of work required to keep the show on the air. The Conway Twitty thing was part of that joke...if they can just show a song for 2+ minutes, thats so much less work for them to do. Its definitely an inside joke type thing.
 
It was awesome the first time they did it .. this second time, though, it was a bit long. I giggled for about 30 seconds and then got bored. Same with the second (or was it third) chicken fight. Funny as a reference, but the two-three minute battle was dull.
 
I did however laugh my ass off when Peter was in a board meeting and gave his "courtesy laugh" for like 30 seconds. It's on the DVD extras of the most recent DVD release. You can probably find it on YouTube as well.
 
I've been loving the new Family Guy and American Dad episodes. FG is as good now as it ever was IMHO.
