The sad part is that if Palin's people had taken the time to do a little research before she open her fucking mouth, they could have written a note on her hand "Don't trash the Family Guy, they're smarter than you & used a real person with Down's Syndrome"

Of course that would have had to go on her arm too. http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/archives/193773.asp

No way. I just honestly thought that Down Syndrome kids couldn't function in normal society.

People afflicted with Down's Syndrome have a wide range of intellect and abilities, some are very functional, some are very difficult to integrate into society.

The voice actress in that episode is high functioning.

I've recently met Down Syndrome patients in the 60 year old range, considering the cardiac issues etc that usually accompany the diagnosis that's fucking amazing and a testament to the medical care and social support they have received.

The two way guide to media perception:

- If you have the child with you, you're exploiting the child
- If you don't have the child with you, you're neglecting the child

It's sickening really. The drones eat it up though.

Post to full quote?

I have this small group of family members who are batshit obsessed with the Alaskan lipstick pig and a particular one who will really enjoy this pretty bad burn.

Palin pretty much encompasses everything that is wrong with American politics. I am sure in say thirty years there will be many a Starbucks manager who did their graduate thesis on aura of stupidity in the republican party, starting with Reagen, intensifying with Bush part duex, and pinnacle with Sarah Palin (that is assume the dems stop this business as usu nonsense and the repubs finally implode on themselves and someone even more ignorant doesn't come alon

ROFL!!! 😀

I think all the political crap they put into Family Guy is why I stopped watching it so much.....there is enough of the bullshit on every other channel...don't need to see it on FG too, I enjoyed it because of its stupidity not for political commentary.

mostly it seems like the extreme right and left both love palin for different reasons. the rest of us are sick of hearing about her. just stfu already.

If you'd actually watch the episode, you'd see there was basically zero political commentary in the episode other than the 1 line joke the girl makes about her mother being the former governor of alaska.

Which, as the actress herself said, was a JOKE.

So she complains that Palin is using her son for sympathy and votes.. yet she uses her down's symdrome to make a political joke against Palin, perhaps to sway sympathy and votes away from her or to another party?

I don't get it. Seems like they are doing the same thing to me. One is doing it through 'outrage' and the other through 'satire'.

Yes, clearly Family Guy is just a left-wing propaganda machine 🙄

Or just to have a joke told on a satirical show that basically has attacked everyone and everything from 9/11 to pedophiles. Same thing? Yea, that's a good palinite.... here's your moose cookie

You can slam the republicans all you want(I am not one but I am not as obviously partisan as you) but Jon Stewart got it right.

"It's not that the Republicans are playing chess and the Democrats are playing checkers. It's that the Republicans are playing chess and the Democrats are in the emergency room again because they accidentally superglued their balls to their thigh."

😀

when did he say that?

So both sides appear to be executing their freedom of speech rights on the issue.. Whats the problem? Palin thinks it was offensive, the writers think it was funny. Personally, I think we should leave Palin's children alone.. attack her, not her kids. Every politician surrounds themselves their their family, until the kid starts spouting off on political issues they should be off limits. Imagine if Rush Limbaugh ran a parody piece of something like this and said 'My Dad is the President of the United States'. The left would be requesting Rush's head on a platter.

you know, I get it....I got it when it aired, and sure it was one joke in that episode....but Christ it seems like every other episode has something in it.....hell one episode was dedicated to Clinton partying with Peter......so when you take the totality of all the political bullshit....and look at how much is in on a regular basis it actually ceases to be funny.

I despise both parties, but Macfarlane & co. always seem to attack republicans/conservatives, if it's just a joke, and making fun of downs syndrome children is funny...and it is, to a certain degree depending on the joke...how about they portray Michelle Obama as Mammy Two Shoes and see how that goes....I am sure that there is a portion of the viewers that would find that equally as funny....or is that crossing some line in the sand?

It's the perceived elitism of the left wing that drives people to Palin, and threads like this do nothing to combat it, they merely drive more and more people to her. I'm surprised the average left winger hasn't realized this yet but whatever.

This thread is quickly descending into P&N material.
