Family Comp "Keyboard Error"

Whenever I load my family comp for my mom (P4 1.7Mhz) 1/2 the time it will give us a little keyboard error and we'll either have to reboot or replug it in a few times until it "recognizes" the keyboard. Sometimes it takes us 10 tries, and sometimes 10 times in a row we have no problem. Any ideas on what it could be/what we could do?

sounds like it could be the keyboard, try another keyboard if possible and even a USB Keyboard would be good, to see if the BIOS is causing the issue.

For some reason, I got a new USB keyboard, and the same error occured. With the same, if not more frequency.

An update to the BIOS hasn't helped anything? Try disabling/enabling the Legacy drivers within the updated BIOS.

Try going into Device Manager to uninstall your keyboard device, then reboot and let Windows detect it again. If it's a corrupt driver then this could resolve the problem. You said u installed a USB keyboard (with its USB drivers, I assume) but did u first uninstall the old keyboard driver? I'm thinking that may have possibly interfered with the USB install.
