I am looking forward to it... but I don't know, I'm just stressed due to its engine, it's the same Gamebryo engine that was running Fallout 3, which was running (will less features and upgrades for its time) Oblivion. And why am I stressed because of it, it's because it's always crashing, and I haven't played nor even bothered modding (because I am... or rather I was a modder for both Oblivion and Fallout 3) Oblivion or Fallout 3 since more than a year in the case of the former, and nearly that much as well for Fallout 3, they aren't even installed anymore. The Gamebryo engine is extremely sensible to very specific hardware and software/codecs combinations that literally take way too much time to troubleshoot, and in my case, within the period covering three different systems from Morrowind, passing by Oblivion up to Fallout 3 I've never... EVER been able to play any of those games running without crashing in a single game-play session.

If I do buy New Vegas, and believe me I am extremely tempted, I KNOW I will end up on the technical/support section of the Bethesda forums and I will end up trying to tweak the game's .INI files and I will end up re-installing the OS at least two or three times trying to run everything the best I can just as much as I've tried to do in the past years with the previous Bethesda games, and ultimately I'll barely be able to play the actual game, and the time I will have to temper with the game is going to be used to modify it because as much as I like Bethesda games they're NEVER "just alright" for my tastes, and since they always provide us with modding tools then I modify 'x' and 'y' things left and right which takes up pretty much all my time, and that cycle lasts for months until I release one or two public mods, keep one or two others for myself, play the game for a total of maybe 200 hours split within hundreds upon hundreds of crashes and lost game-play and quests and whatnot... up until I decide I'm sick of it and uninstall it.

But... yeah, other than that, I guess I want to buy it.

Heh yeah i hear ya on the stability issue, i really like the engine actually i like the speed of the loadscreens and the fact you can walk from one end of the map to the other without hitting a single loadscreen, very cool. But yeah my fallout 3 always seems to freeze occasionally for some reason and it will crash if minimized for a few minutes, well it dosent crash it just wont maximize again. Its a pain in the ass but i sit with the netbook on the fallout wiki page so i dont have to minimize and it autosaves a lot so its not too devistating when the game decides to freeze on me.

I'll be more excited about a Borderlands 2 if it ever materializes but in the "post-apocalyptic cowboy" genre this is all we get for now so we might as well be happy about it.
I loved the original and I'm sure I will enjoy this.

I hope they do something about that pathetic excuse for a user interface. Really dragged the game down. After my experiance with Oblivion, I was no longer a big Bethesda fan, only pick up their games on the cheap side now. Fallout3 was better than I expected though.

Fallout 3's Engine was rather crash prone, although the further into the game I got the less often it seemed to crash. It did a fine job with Performance, Quality, and sheer Map size though.

Fallout 3 was meh to me. It was fun that it was open but it sucked as a game. Voice acting was terrible, leveling up sucked since it had such a low level and once you got to that high level everything was too easy to kill, the main story sucked, ending sucked, graphics weren't that good, and stability issue galore. I hope they change a lot to make it a better game but I know they won't cus it sold a crapload as it was. I'll probably buy it when it's cheap.

Fallout 3 was a truly massive game. I spent over 80 hours on my last playthrough and still didn't find everything there was to do.

Probably the most impressive gameworld of all time.

I enjoyed Fallout3 and never did have any crashing with my 4870X2. I'm looking forward to another instalment but I may wait a little longer after release because I bet they're going to release tons of DLC like they did last time.

I liked the graphics, combat, map exploration and side quests in Fallout 3. OTOH, I hated everything about the main storyline. From that perspective I'd be interested in getting the same game with another try at a plotline that didn't suck. Of course the new storyline is probably made by the same people who came up with the last storyline so...

I did not like the art direction in fallout 3. I felt like they could of hit the 50's theme much better then they did and I agree oblivion was like omgwtfbbq back in the day but now come on. Give it up!

I did not like this game. Liked the atmosphere and he desolation, but that was it. Put it down after about 6 - 8 hours then resold it.

I hated a lot of things about Fallout 3. But I liked enough to see what they've done with this one. Hopefully they have more interesting situations and less following a giant robot while it kills everything for me.

They need to ramp up the difficulty, improve the combat a lot, and breath more life into the dungeons.

I loved Fallout 3 and beat it multiple times before loading on any of the patches or DLCs. Excellent story line and awesome gameplay. Made me become a hermit for quite a few months. :D

If Fallout: New Vegas is anywhere's close to being as awesome as Fallout 3 is then I'll pick that one up too and become a hermit for a few more months. lol

Fuck Borderlands. It's like they took Fallout, removed the plot, added 397423897238972389402374890237489723894723 guns, and called it a new game.

I am also very excited for this new Fallout. I played Fallout 3 for many hours, just exploring the wasteland, finding new quests, and finding random buildings to clear out

It's hard to give it up when there hasn't been an RPG released that's better than Oblivion, IMHO.

Very excited about the "improved" real-time gun play. The M4 looks cool too; not enough authentic weapons in Fallout 3. Get to play it maxed out, which will be nice. Speaking of, I should replay Fallout 3 with my new system.

Gothic 3 and Risen were both in the same group as Oblivion and I'd probably consider Oblivion the weakest of the 3.

However then there is the Witcher, Dragon's Age and NWN2 which were all extremely excellent RPGs with much, much more plot/story/character development then the previously 3 listed games.

And that's just off the top of my head.

Ditto, if theres one thing i wanted after playing oblivion it was oblivion in a much better setting, castles magic and mana arent my thing, post apocaliptic nuclear wasteland with guns robots monsters and a freaking massive robot at the end is much better  Im currently having a blast in the swamps of point lookout where the punga wunga fruit grow :)

Gamebryo does have a few quirks. It doesn't like running on CPUs with more than two cores for some reason. After I fixed that in the .ini file, 90% of my crashes went away. Sadly another victim of bad quality control in PC gaming, which I've been complaining about for years. Unfortunately, even the console versions had a lot of issues too.

I hated Fallout 3 at first but it grew on me. A deep, dark game with lots to explore. I like games where you can play them millions of times and still find something new. I'm definitely going to pick up New Vegas on day one.
