voted New Vegas.
more guns, more enemies, more levels, more locations, bigger DLCs, good companions, slightly improved graphics. just better.
i'm playing it now, 40 hours in and level 30. i keep getting better weapons and i have a huge quest list still waiting for me, but i like wandering around.
I liked post-apocalyptic DC more than post-apocalyptic Vegas. Dont get me wrong, I played the shit out of both of them.
It's FO3 and it's not close. NV felt empty and dull, a real snoozefest. I probably dumped 100 hours into FO3 but Steam says I played NV for a whopping total of 8. Probably not enough to pass judgement, to be fair. And obviously I liked a lot of the gameplay changes in NV, which were definitely needed. But FO3 had soul, whereas NV felt empty and derivative. FO3 had good graphics for the time, but NV's graphics were carbon copies except that by the time it released those graphics were now more insulting than anything else. Mods cure all, but the whole game just felt old and dated to me. Not a fan.
Vegas was the better game. Mechanically, it was undeniably better. In terms of plot and setting, it was also better - FO3 had the same problem Tron Legacy did. It was an amusement park ride made by people who didn't actually understand the world they were working with. Fun stuff to do, sure, but ultimately it just wasn't internally consistent.
