Interplay has announced plans to make a Fallout MMORPG.

Caen expressed optimism that catapulting the Fallout universe into the online arena could reverse the fortunes of the once-successful developer and publisher. "Initial feedback from our investment bank and ongoing dialogue with others in the gaming sector, appear to confirm that the combination of our valuable and popular intellectual properties with the rapidly growing online gaming community is the best way to maximize Interplay shareholder value," Caen said.

While this looks like a complete grab for venture and investment capitol to me, I pray they follow though on this announcement and produce a game worthy of the Fallout title.

BTW; I have yet to play Fallout 2, darn Blizzard and their World Of Warcraft.

Whoa - Fallout fan ... dude, fallout 2 kicks ass, but fallout tactics ( BOS ) is evan better as you dont just get a car ( like you do in falout 2 ) you get humV and tanks and all, and a squad of upto 6 chars at any one time, they all level up and stuff, and you can get more guy's if members of your squad die, the higher your skills get the better memers you get to choose from to replace them, so when your a sargent, you get other sargent's to your squad so you dont have to train them from the ground up.

How the HELL is any of this related to the thread topic?

Anyhow, I highly doubt that it'll get off the ground - in that article, it said that the company's about to be bankrupt by the end of the month . . .. Even if it does get developed, considering their current finances, it'll be a rushed-out-the-door POS, IMO.

Hmm... I'm a little skeptical about Fallout games after 2, since they aren't really done by the REAL original Fallout team (back then Black Isle, or something. I'm bad with game history ). I know, I'm biased.

And I thought Interplay was dying/dead soon...? Hm. I don't know. I just wish Black Isle were still around. Oh well.

It was Black Isle that developed both Fallout and Fallout 2 plus Icewind Dale.

I just hope that if Interplay goes down the tubes that another company, like BioWare, picks up the Fallout title.
