Fallout 3 Toolkit released

Yeah I know some have already been doing some mods to the game, but these are the official tools..

As had been expected, the Garden of Eden Creation Kit for Fallout 3 is now available for download.

With the 8.47MB download, you can "create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons, creatures, and more."

If you need help getting started, a G.E.C.K. Wiki has been set up by Bethesda offering information about various game components, along with tutorials.

Thanks a lot for the heads up. I will be sure to not sleep tonight and spend it modding Fallout 3, I made a single mod for Oblivion, but this time Fallout 3 calls for a dozen just by me. I would dare predicting that Fallout 3's modding will be even more proficient than it was for Oblivion, ah the excitement!

My priorities:

- Better Textures
- More enemy variety
- More random events
- My own personal Vault

I just ran through the first tutorial, pretty easy to follow. Not a whole lot different from Oblivion.

Indeed, I just took a quick look at it and it's extremely similar to Oblivion's Construction Set, I like it when the basics and interface are kept the same, I don't have to get used to many new things and features/options placements.

I especially like to see the Combat Styles branch having the same functionalities and capabilities from Oblivion, to me that means that the A.I in Fallout 3 has way more melee combat capabilities than they make it look like, since right now of course they mostly fight using guns and various projectile weaponry. I think I'll try to explore how it plays with NPC's switching to melee more often.

Yep, I'm going to have a lot of fun.

Thanks, this is good news!

And in case anybody missed it, they have claimed that a patch is to be released prior to the release of DLC. That means within the next month I think. We shall see.

Thunderdome! Two men enter, one man leaves.

I foresee one of the early mods bringing in a talking Deathclaw like previous games.

This is great news! Cant wait to see what everyone comes up with. I want my personal fembot!

You can't have your own personal fembot, you got to pimp her out.
I got to get something out of the deal.

try to run it on vista home premium, get this---

"GECK.exe - Unable To Locate Component

This application has failed to start because libvorbisfile.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

have tried re-installing, didn't work 🙁

libvorbisfile.dll is in the fallout 3 directory. Make sure it is there.
Should see geck.exe in that same directory.
Might be a vista thing with permissions.

my mistake.
i re-installed fallout to a different drive.
it's in there.
thanks for that 🙂

Anybody downloaded it know how powerful it is on the mechanics side, if it all? I'm much less interested in added new textures, and much more in adding some much needed depth to the kiddie pool game mechanics. Could I alter how VATS determines chance to hit? Change crits back to the tables instead of the Final Fantasy style?

WOO!

That said, what I REALLY want is a total conversion of Fallout II to the Fallout III engine.

If you're missing your GECK, go talk to the talking deathclaws. They've got it.

Fallout 3 is the perfect base for an awesome Warhammer 40k mod.

Would love to see a suit of Blood Angels armour and Storm Bolter in there.

Deathclaws = Lictors?

Enclave = Chaos SM?

Wastelanders = IG?

Paradise Falls = Rogue Traders? 😛

Oh the amusement!!!!
