Fallout 3 progress question

Hello all,

i was just wondering where I am in terms of progression. I'm interested to see where my current quest leads me, but I dont want to finish expectantly. I am going after the GECK with the lyon pride + fawkes. The giant robot is deactivating the shields as I plow through there. I just hit level 20.

Am I close to the end? should I detour and do other quests? is level 20 normal for this point? should I mod it so I can get to lvl 30? advice! i need advice!!

As far as I can remember, it sounds like you've passed the dreaded point of no return. Hope you have an older save . You're definitely close at the very least.

I *believe* the game ends when you get to the water treatment plant, although I'm not 100% sure. You're in the middle of that quest, I don't think you can run away from it.

I think you can walk away until you decide who enters the airlock (or possibly the rotunda)

I'm pretty sure you have until you enter that room where you have to make the final decision. So you can enter the Jefferson Memorial, but don't enter the rotunda. Just turn around and head back into the wastes to do more exploring.
