I'm trying to decide if I should start over and do things that I missed my first play through. Chances are that replaying it will allow me to stay active in it until the Pitts comes out.

Thats what I did... I learned from my mistakes the first time through and now I have an awesome character built up and ready for Anchorage.. same for the Pitt.

I did - it's waiting for me to get home. Question Plat, what build did you go? I can't really find any good builds online - I need to read through the walkthroughs so that I can find the special weapons and stuff.

What do you mean by build?

Are they, uh, patching this game anytime soon? Its a shame, I love the game, but it has got to be the buggiest console game I've played in a long time. It hangs on me pretty frequently. The first time I played it was choppy as hell - I'm talking like 2 fps - I had to restart the PS3 to get any kind of smoothness.

They already patched it once, but yeah I agree, the bugs are still pretty bad. I've had it hang up 3 times on me, freeze in VATS, freeze loading new levels and I get 'stuck' in parts of the level, like between rocks where the only remedy is to reload from a save point.

Other than that it's probably one of the best game I've ever played

Yea that too, I've gotten trapped in rocks that I can't get out from before. Annoying. And there's times where there's an enemy directly in front of me - I target him in VATS with a 95% chance to hit - and somehow every single shot misses?

Yep that happens to me too, just kinda sloppy programming in the VATS in general. The worst is getting stuck in rocks.. wtf. Another really annoying thing is how quickly the combat shotgun gets damaged.. the rest of the small arms stuff like hunting rifle and assault rifles take much longer to get damaged but they're not as powerful.

Furthermore the fucking talon company mercs ALWAYS appear for me.. the first time I played through with perfect karma they appeared maybe 3 or 4 times. On this new game I started, I've fought them at least 15 times with no exaggeration, a lot of times within 10 minutes of each other.

Well speaking of bugs, lol

Got the Anchorage pack and the very first possible interaction with the new pack caused a bug for me.

*SPOILER*
You get out of a subway tunnel and approach some Outcast Brotherhood soldiers.. I attempted to talk to the leader but he was fighting a huge group of super mutants and wouldn't respond so I started killing the mutants. After they were dead, all the Brotherhood soldiers started attacking me... (quest is called Aiding the Outcasts...). I restarted the quest and this time the soldier responded to me and told me to help kill the mutants, second time it worked. What the fuck lol.

Wow, $10 for 2-3 hours and you can't re-enter the sim once you're done (which I suppose makes sense, but still). On the plus side it sounds like there are some nice goodies to be had, as well as a new perk you can earn.

SPOILERS

Ok, this DLC really pisses me off aside from the amazing (albeit fucked up by mistake by the developers goodies). There are so many fucking bugs in it that it makes the regular Fallout 3 seem like a perfect game. I noticed all of the following MULTIPLE times in the 2 hours it took to beat this.

Bad glitches:

1) Chinese soldiers being 'clear' as in, not visable except you can tell they're there and you have 0% chance to hit them in VATS. They can still kill you however.. the only way to kill them is to fire on them normally outside of VATS.

2) VATS is FUCKED UP in this DLC... you can be point blank with any weapon and about 50% of the time you will do absolutely no damage whatsoever to the characters. This happens sometimes in the regular game but never as often

3) Chinese soldiers appearing to be good guys. The only way to turn them bad is to shoot them. If you ignore them you get no XP.

4) Stuck. on. fucking. rocks. again.

5) The final boss, a general has absolutely no armor and a sword and takes forever to kill even with your strongest weapons.

6) Your teammates are essentially useless and what could have been a neat addition turns out to be worthless.

7) It is IMPOSSIBLE to pick shit up in this DLC.. there are hundreds of useless mines and grenades (ok these are useful) that take expert fucking precision to highlight and collect. The regular game doesn't have this issue at all but you'll get so fucking pissed at this DLC if you play it. Furthermore there are tons of missiles for seemingly no reason... only there I guess if you choose the missile launcher gear (dumb in my opinion).

8) Minor... but you repeatedly hear how the Chinese aren't taking prisoners but you rescue like 30 people along the course of the quests...

Good glitches:

1) The winterized T51B armor you get at the end is glitched out as the version that's in the simulation.. if I'm not mistaken, the armor you get as goodies at the end has an HP of 9,992,000, making it basically indestructable. Couple this with the fact that it boosts your charisma and several skills and doesn't slow you down and you have an unreal advantage in the game when you're done. The helmet has a HP of almost 1,000,000 HP. I'm not sure if this is a fuck up or not but it's a good one either way.

2) You can take 2 sets of weapons on the 3 missions in the last quest because of sloppy programming. Choose your original set of weapons and then look on the computer for what you'd like as a second set. Once the quartermaster gives you your weapons, go back to the HQ tent and dump everything on the floor (except the ammo). Use the computer to switch your weapon gear cache and go back to the quartermaster who will give you your second set. Then, go back to the quartermaster and he'll take your ammo as proof that you've given back your weapons and you'll get two sets of weapons. Then, just find any of the thousands of ammo refiling stations to get full ammo for all your weapons. Make sure to use your speech skill to make him give you a gauss rifle.

Goodies:
Winterized destruction proof T51B power armor
Chinese stealth armor (gives you +5 in sneak)
General's sword (lame)
Gauss gun (and tons of MF cells)
Flamer
Missle Launcher
Mini Nuke
Health, grenades, mines
And finally, the cover ops perk is pretty sweet. It gives you a boost in science and small guns and lockpick.. useless to me since I have full in all of those.

Other than that, fuck this DLC.. I'm amazed this even made it out of beta as it is. Other than the sweet ass guns and invincible armor I'm glad it's not even replayable once you're done with it. You get 100 gamer score on 360 for beating all four quests. It's worth the 10 bux for the sweet gun and armor but that's it.

On 360, this was one of the most bug-free games I ever recall playing, it really was a masterpiece.
The scope of the game is so daunting though, I'm not sure if I'll ever see everything I want to see and complete everything I want to.

The only glitch I ran into was that railway gun crash, which was kinda annoying because I found the gun pretty effective against super mutants.
Yeah! THat was my only major one, too. I thought my xbox was overheating, but after experiencing a headshot + railway lockup in a subway tunnel a few times in a row I thought it had to be the game.

In my 55 hours of play I had this happen several times. I thought it was in my head, but it's not. And, apparently, not in my enemy's head, either, because he'll be unhittable. Reloading does sort it out.

I never got stuck on rocks while playing through the first time. I always thought it seemed like it could happen but it didn't. It's strange how some will always get bugs and others won't, but that's how these things are.

I would like to play this DLC as I've finished the game a month or so back but I won't pay $10 for 2-3 hours of gameplay. Not gonna happen.

The third DLC raises level cap from 20-30, but since I"m now finished, I don't know what the point of that is. The level cap was too small in the original game, though.

I thought the clear Chineese guys were supposed to be that way, like they were using a stealth-boy or something. I didnt see this happen until I encountered the new elite force, so I assumed it was an additonal perk they had making them harder to kill. If that is a bug, wow, its pretty bad since it is VERY easy to reproduce.

Other that that, yeah I pretty much agree with the consensus. Its pretty much what I expected, very Meh..

Finished in about 2 hrs, pretty underwhelming content compared to the rest of the game.. It seemed like they tried to show versatility doing the whole "war game" thing, and it pretty much fell flat. It loses quite a bit of what makes the original game so enjoyable in the first place.

The next 2 DLC's sound much better ( IE more of the same in ref to the original game)

Ah that's a great point, perhaps it was a stealth technology.. which explains why you can't use VATS but you can hit them. Hard to say though.

It's worth the 10 bux for ultimate indestructable armor and Gauss gun, but that's it. Tedious to get through imo.

yeah, it is the stealth suit they are wearing.

just beat it earlier. i wanna use the gauss gun, but there is no way to repair it without paying people. i have no caps right now cause i just started a new game to use for the DLC. apparently it is broken as well. like, shots go through enemies sometimes, and it doesn't do the right amount of damage while in VATS.

Paying people to fix shit isn't a problem as the game goes on but yeah initially it sucks because you don't have a lot of caps. I started a new game a week ago to get built up enough for the DLC. The Gauss gun is cool but its easy to conserve.. here's what I do. Shoot someone initially in the head with it, it will knock them on their ass and it takes them a bit to get back up.. while that happens whip out your shotgun and just blast them in the head. The Gauss gun takes a long time to wear down. I kinda prefer the plasma rife though.

yeah, the plasma rifle you get from harkness the android was almost all i used once i got it my first play through. by that time enclave were everywhere, so i always had a plasma rifle to repair it with. that and ol' painless and the terrible shotgun.

found the lincoln repeater this time, going to try it out once i get some .44 magnum ammo.
