GamesIndustry.biz - Bethesda has confirmed that DLC is coming to Fallout 3 for the PS3 starting with Operation: Anchorage in June with The Pitt and Broken Steel to follow 4-6 weeks later.

Additionally, two new DLC packs, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta will be coming in June and July for 800 MS points each.

edit:

Also, Bethesda is going to start putting out retail boxes with two DLC packs in them each starting with Anchorage and The Pitt in June. Broken Steel and Point Lookout will arrive in August.

Look for the Game of the Year Edition to drop in October for the 360 and PS3 and contain all 5 DLCs.

edit 2: IGN has an interview up about the new DLC. Point Lookout is going to be set in Maryland where the bombs didn't drop and the park has turned into a wasteland swamp. Mothership Zeta is an alien abduction quest.

No level caps are lifted with these two.

Nice, good news for PS3 Fallout 3 owners. Console-exclusive DLC is lame. I finally started playing this game over the weekend on my 360.

Also, probably important to note:

Two new downloadable episodes for Fallout 3 ? Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta ? will be released for Xbox 360 and PC in June and July, respectively, with releases via Sony's PSN at a later date.

All I can say is FINALLY!! Sony really needs to start pushing publishers for exclusive content like MS does.

It'd be nice if they'd put out a "DLC pack" for $25-$30 with all five DLCs. Spending $50 on all five or $60 on the GOTY edition doesn't appeal much to me.

It's getting a bit ridiculous here... I bought the first 2 packs but I doubt I'll buy the other 3 and wait until the GOTY edition is available.

Huzzah! Maybe my email to Bethesda claiming that I'd never purchase another one of their products again because of this actually paid off!

But probably not...methinks it's more likely "finally time" for Sony.

heh considering I just wrote the email like 2 weeks ago (whenever they announced the big addition that lets you continue the game after beating it), I highly doubt my email had anything to do with it ;) I still like writing angry emails to companies, its so ok.

Just posted this in the PC Gaming forums, but it applies to PS3 as well...

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/...coming-new-content.ars

If you're a PS3 gamer who has been jealous over the extended content offered to 360 owners, your wait is over. Today Bethesda announced that the past content, and all content moving forward, will be brought to the PS3. This is great news for PS3 owners who wanted to see everything the game has to offer.

"We have been working on implementing it for a while and look forward to bringing it to PS3 gamers via the PlayStation Network," Bethesda stated. "Operation: Anchorage will be released for PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart. Release dates will be forthcoming."

There will also be two more content packs released across all platforms in the future.

* Point Lookout will be available in late June for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 points or $9.99. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live and through token cards available at retail. Point Lookout will be available on PS3 after the first three DLCs have been released.
* Mothership Zeta is scheduled for release in late July for Xbox 360 and PC. Cost will be 800 points or $9.99. It will be available through Xbox Live and Games for Windows Live and through token cards available at retail. Mothership Zeta will be available on PS3 after Point Lookout.

If that wasn't enough, there will be two separate retail packages of content released for the 360 and PC, if buying the content digitally isn't your thing.

* Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 includes The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on May 26.
* The Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC in August.

These retail packs "aren't possible" on the PS3, so the content will only be available through the PlayStation Store. You will be able to buy Fallout 3: Game of Year edition with all five content packs for $59.99 on both the PS3 and 360, and $49.99 for the PC. That package will be available in October.

^ trade in or sell your existing FO3 now, buy the GOATY instead of the separate DLC.

I can't do this since I don't want to break up my collector's edition :(

Ditto. Which means I really hope they release the DLC on one disc for a moderate price.

I have it for PC, but haven't done much, maybe only 1/6 of the way complete, and haven't played it since the first month of release. I'm too much of a console gamer now to bother turning on my PC. Heh.

But my friend is a FO junkie and grabbed it for his PS3. He's been angry since they didn't release the DLC for ths PS3. He was 1 minute from rebuying it for PC. Yesterday I told him to sell his copy and just get the GOATY edition. Nope! $50 for the extra packs does not bother a junkie. LOL.
