how bout them mini nukes? kinda hard to find an occasion when you really have to whip out the experimental MIRV, but it sure makes a nice splash with the explosion 🙂

I had about 25 mini-nukes. Very hard to find, and I would buy every single one available in stores. Definately used them sparingly. I took it out for special group occasions, like when a crowd of 5 Enclave soldiers clustered together.

here is something fun to do:

Jump off either comsat tower, fire a minunuke and the explosion will lanuch you hella high (way past the comsat's height). Enjoy your fall 😀

Alright, you freaking guys made me reinstall it.
I forgot how much of a hassle combat is until you get some VATS feats. Then the game is almost too easy.
I installed a buttload of mods, not the least of which is one which lets me repair anything with tin cans. Game is a lot less mind numbing now.

I also forgot how much this game crashes. Wish they kept coming out with patches, but since they focused on Vegas I guess they stopped caring.

mine didn't crash much other than on exit (does this almost every other time, but no biggie)

could be some of the mods you are installing, or how they interact with each other

Doubtful.
The game behaves exactly the same with no mods.
This is an old issue. On many systems the game just isnt stable. I found some tweaks a while back that supposedly help. 1st one is limiting the frame rate in the INI.

Theres the tweak that makes it so it only uses two cores, in case you have a quad or a dual with HT, it helped me quite a bit on my i7. Still crashes occasionally though, but much less than before. Worst thing is that im not really doing anything when it crashes... theres no pattern to it, just standing around in the wasteland waving guns around, no VATS, no crashes when fighting certain monster, its weird.

AHHHHHHH!
I forgot about that.
I do have quad core and I seem recall this helped. Thanks for reminding me.

That one made me nuts when I was running it on my PC. The game would just freeze out of the blue in situations that had nothing in common. Found a thread on Bethesda forums that said to force the game to run 2 cores at most and voila - almost all crashes have been fixed.

Played it on my Xbox for the most part though. A few hang-ups only, luckily. Mostly in Broken Steel (fitting name 😛).

So I reinstalled fallout 1 with a high res mod. Not because of this thread although it probably had a subliminal effect on me. Planning on going through 1 and 2 and then trying 3 again ^.^

Yes, that’s what I was alluding to in my post. At the end of the game I had 50+ nukes and I could easily take out Death Claws with a single shot from a fatman.

One time I fast-travelled to a town and there were three Death Claws right next to each other, but a single nuke easily took care of them.

I DID NOT KNOW THIS!!!

If you enter VATS while a weapon is travelling towards you, you can shoot it down.
This even works for the energy beams shot by Feral Ghoul Reavers (though the odds of you hitting them and shooting them down are extremely unlikely).

I just bought FO3 for PC but havent been able to play much because the game keeps crashing. I did the dual core "fix" but didnt seem to make a difference.

Anyone else know how to fix that or at least reduce the amount of times it happens?

Thanks man, looked that up and it fixed the crashes for me.

There are many settings in the Fallout.ini file that you can tweak to fix stability issues.
One of the lines limits your frame rate and that can help. Set it to 60.

READ THIS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES!!!!

That was the funnest part of FO3. Watching enemies blow each other apart then launching a mininuke to finish whatever is left standing.

Deathclaws are especially troublesome because of their SPEED and their DR ignoring attacks. You could kite and LOS most things in game but not the Deathclaw. They remind me of the zombies from "I am Legend," fast and deadly.

Alright you bastards. You made me reinstall Fallout 3 AND purchase all those fucking expansion packs too.
I have to say most of them were relatively small and they just increased the length by making lots of boring, tedious grinds through cookie cutter levels. I was not too impressed. Mothership Zeta was cool for about 5 minutes then got irritating. They really didnt have too many good ideas for alien technology and stuff. The darkness of the Pitt wasnt too impressive considering how much time I had already spent in the Wasteland.

Sooooo, I reinstalled Oblivion with all the official stuff and a buttload of mods. Forgot how slow and boring it was. And the menu is such a pain, especially compared to Fallout 3. Especially buying and selling. Have not found any mods to fix that yet.

I wonder how many more games they will need to get it right. Probably not enough. They will move to a different system and fudge it all up again.
Yet I still keep playing them. I must have an addiction.
