I am hyped about fallout 3 so I was thinking about getting the collection (1,2 and tactics) for the PC. However, I was wondering if there would be any problem running it on vista 32bit with a 8800GT and/or vista 64bit with a 9800GX2? If you have a simlar setup, please let me know how this ran for you (p.s. I don't dual boot, I just don't like it because I am lazy)

Try Good Old Games, all of them are for sale for $6 or so I think. You might even wish to start with Fallout 2, since it's a bit more streamlined than Fallout 1 interface-wise. Tactics is the odd one of the bunch, but still a lot of fun.

Some of the best RPG's ever!

GameTap has Fallout 1 free (for now) & Fallout 2 for subscribers & Tactics scheduled to be added soon

or

GOG.com (like RaiderJ wrote above)

or

gogamer 48 hour madness sale

Fallout Collection $12.90 + $2.99 shipping

gogamer link

edit: I ran FO1 and Tactics this Spring on a bottom-of-the-line Dell outlet special with Vista Home 32bit and integrated graphics without any system problems that I remember. Save often in Tactics, though, as the game itself has problems regardless of the OS.

Agreed with RaiderJ (above), that FO2 is the best of the set. I played FO2 first, way back in the day. Played FO1 years later, when I gogamer'ed a FO1/2 Dual Jewel Pack for $3+shipping in Jan2005. Also bought Tactics years ago, but never completed it until this Spring.

Fallout should work fine any pretty much any computer. Hell, it even works in Wine (one of those rare examples that works perfectly without having to fuck around with it too much)

I will never forget the satisfaction of reaching that point mid-game where Small Guns coes into its own, and starting consistently blowing peoples' heads off with a .223 pistol. God, I was so fond of that gun. *sniffle*

Fallout 2 ran fine on my XP Pro machine with 8800GT.

One or two crashes, probably from my Alt+Tab habit but rather stable considering age.
