Products made from whales were oil for lamps and candles whereas the bones were used for stays, corsets and collars.

also perfumes, whale oil, had a wierd teachere once every one in class learned everything about whale oil possible. . and every thing has been mentioned so.. dunno

Differential lubrication (meaning for the rear gear in a car). Yes, whale oil was used there. Might not be the answer you're looking for though 🙂

Son of a gun!

WE HAVE A WINNER: Demon-Xanth

Whale oil was used as Transmission Fluid.

Congrats to Demon-Xanth

Thanks to everyone for playing.

I think you are wrong. Demon-Xanth was right.

Dont take this as a negative but whale oil was used in limited slip differentials (rear ends) and not transmissions.

This is why you have to use additives today to LSDs because whale oil is not available.

it was used in automatic transmissions, and none of the synthetic oils have been anywhere near as good.
