I agree, NewEgg is the only place to shop for computer parts. :)

But those fake processors are weird though... :( What's with that?

They do it to make more profit ,e.g. ,they buy an XP2000 ,reset the default multiplier to say that of an XP2400 ,alter the vcore to make it stable (if needed, assuming they bothered!) & then flog it off as an XP2400 (or whatever they choose).

Unless they are unlocked by default or through the mobo, I don't see how they could make a profit. It takes more than a couple minutes to hard mod a CPU. Cheaper to just buy the higher rated chip and save the money on labor (XP2000= $59, XP2400= $76, Barton2400= $84). At $25/hr. you aren't making money hard modding chips, when the cost between a XP2000 and a Barton2500 is only $25. Same reason Compuwiz1 here on the forum went out of business a few years back. Chip prices are so low it ain't worth the time. It's probably just an enthusiast seeing what they can get away with.

If they're just doing it through the BIOS, one CMOS reset (or someone peeking at the CPU setup parameters), and they've blown their cover.

I agree they should be shot for passing these off. It will take all the fun out of OC'ing for us AMD guy's if AMD somehow locks the multipliers where we can't do our magic.
