Fake or Real Christmas tree

It's not just the growing part, it's the fact that you have to dispose of it at the end of the season. Around here they usually just end up tossed in the ditch or pilling up in the landfil.

It's just a personal opinion.

We've been celebrating Alvistime instead of Christmas for the past couple years. We use a fake baby Alvis, real whisky.

Fake simply for the reason that I find that hacking down something that has been growing for 10 years simply to use it for 2-4 weeks year after year after year is rather wasteful.

Christmas trees are grown on farms, solely for the purpose of being hacked down to use a few weeks each year. It's not like the dealers are walking through a national forest and taking down thousands of trees.

You can come hug my Fraser Fir though if it makes you feel better. 😛

Yep. Christmas trees are just like any other farm-raised product (except that they're very low impact and usually raised on what would be considered relatively poor quality farmland). And real trees are recyclable. Something like half of all the real christmas trees in the country are grown in my area too. 🙂

Hmmm... I can just put mine out on the curb come the garbage day right after New Years, and it'll be picked up and recycled into mulch.

Always a real Christmas tree. You wouldn't want to receive fake gifts, right? So why would you ever want a fake Christmas tree?

We prefer real tree.

My family always celebrated with a Christmas tree.

For few years with a fake, then we start using the real tree with metal mounting kits for tree!

I still love those days..

Just bought an artifical from Home Depot. Pre-lit trees FTW!

Not a bad looking tree for $150
I did this last year. I figured I'll have to keep it 5 years, at least to make it pay for itself... It certianly looks nice now though...I just hope it doesn't get too ragged by the time it's 5 years old. 😛

Same with me. I also know a lot of people who toss them in the water on their lake front property to provide a habitat for fish they hope to catch the following spring/summer. 😀

Real trees are a pain, messy and a fire hazzard.

They're less of a pain to set up than a fake tree. They're only messy if you're too careless to keep it hydrated. And in my 34 years of life, I have never known of one single person to have a real Christmas tree catch on fire. And the ones that do are because of highly irresponsible people who think it's fine to leave their tree lights on while they're gone away for the weekend.

Hardly. I don't have to go out and strap my fake tree to my roof every year. I just pull it out from the basement, and set it up. Oh, and it's pre lit.

Even a fresj tree sheds a bunch when you bring it in. And the pets tear it up.

It's just not worth the risk and pain for me.

3 fake trees - (1) 6' and (2) 4'. We went with fake trees because we got the 6' footer (white) on sale for $25 3 years ago at walmart and its hard to make real pine trees white every year. The 6' footer is white and red themed, keeping in tradition with the main room, (1) 4' is a white tree with silver and black ornaments - matching the dining room while the green tree is in the den

I think it was home depot last friday that had $30 fake trees with a free $30 giftcard... I kept threatening to go buy 12 and put up a fake forest in my living room.
