fake lacie hdd?

i bought this lacie hdd:

however, after connected to pc via usb port. i noticed the model no is "st350083", which is seagate hdd. is it normal? or this lacie hdd is fake?

Probably not. LaCie made the box and probably the interface board, they don't make physical drives as far as I know. They just pop in a generic harddrive from Seagate or whoever is cheapest at the time.

Exactly.

Lacie does NOT manufacture HDDs.

They just make an enclosure (if they even do that), pop in a HDD from either Seagate/Maxtor, Hitachi, Samsung, or WD, & call it a Lacie.

The HDD inside is Seagate. There are only like... 5 major hard drive manufacturers - Seagate, Western Digital, Hitachi, Samsung, and... I think Toshiba?

Fujitsu also.
But not in retail level 3.5" HDDs.

All of my Lacie external drives (four of them) use Seagate hard drives.
