Well, Jaqie, alot of us, at least the ones who have replied in this thread, were nowhere near as lucky as you have been. Let me say this, though: when there were no problems with the products, TD was as good as any other e-tailer. The problems, at least for me, came when I required a return/RMA.

The last time I purchased anything from them was the worst. I had them cross ship the new item (a video card), which of course they charge you for the new item, but are supposed to refund that, when the DOA item arrives.

I think that pretty much hits the nail on the head. What separates the good online stores from the bad, is how they handle problems, and how many and what kind of problems they have. In TD case, in my experience they handle them poorly and dishonestly. And some of the complaints they get seem to occur much more often at less than reputable places. Many complaints of purchasing product no longer in stock, and TD keeps the money, assuming the item will come back in stock, often without notification until an inquiry is made. Reputable stores make it impossible to buy out of stock items (unless software error occurs). Or selling used/returned items (in my case defective) as new, and then putting you on hold, repeatedly each time you call, and "accidentally disconnecting" multiple times after a long hold time. Or trying to pass the buck, you need to take that up with the manufacturer. Ridiculous.

After the TD fiasco, I ended up buying an 8800ultra from EVGA. After two months the seal on the company installed waterblock leaked and fried the card. They sent me a new one free of charge, I installed it and when working, I sent them the old one back (they take your credit card number in case you dont send it back and try to screw them). Within a week I was up and running, and they emailed me they received my return. That is how RMA's are supposed to occur. Newegg is also no hassle.

TD policy of charging you for the part, then refunding you, is not exactly top notch customer service by TD. Especially given the multiple complaints of them being dishonest.

That's also the policy of most OEMs when RMAing directly to them, but I hear no complaints on that.

i remember quite a few years ago, TD got in trouble where when you checked out through thier website that you had to opt-out of a telephone thing. If you simply closed out the window window, you still supscribed to it, it was like $69 a month, a ton of people didnt realize it until after getting billed on their CC for 6 to 8 months. Was a BIG fisaco about it.

Must be because the other OEM's with that policy actually refund your money when you ship the defective part back.

*shrug* as I said, I don't cross ship, which leaves me out of the whole debacle with them or anyone else.

why is argument supposedly implied there? I was saying that I dont have experience with that because I don't use that particular service.
