Crucial's 256 meg 2100's are $46 right now, with a $10 coupon (on the site). Brings it down to $36, with free FedEx shipping. So you can get 512 megs for $72 shipped.

Go to www.crucial.com/usergroups to get 15% off. The $10 coupon is listed on the individual item.

(I had to place two seperate orders to get $10 off on two sticks. But shipping is free, so all you lose is a little bit of your time.)

I only have 2 slots, 256 on one slot so I will get 512 on one stick to put into the other slot. Still waiting for Crucial to drop their 512.

Mushkin screams quality. I bought about 10 of these sitcks last yr to ebay them. 1 of them was a defect (probably my fault) i called in and they overnight their brand new stick before i even sent mine in GREAT customer service

The customer service is great at mushkin. But I am having a problem with a stick and the support reply I recieved was -

>the kr7araid works fine with a single unbuffered module installed - 256
>or
>512...
>when installing more than one, sometimes two - definitely three -
>nothing
>works in all four (!)
>you have to get ecc REGISTERED modules...
>512MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM ECC Registered $ 239
>actually i am surprised that you have a low-end basic value module
>working
>at all in there... :0
>
>all our chips have lifetime warranty and full tech support
>let me know your questions - feel free to call or email
>Thanks

I was tring to run 2 256 and 1 512, I guess it could be the abit board. But It came highly recomended from this forum.Textactually i am surprised that you have a low-end basic value module

For the Abit KG-7 this was a condition clearly stated in the manual. You can't go more than 2 sticks without going registered. Reason being that 4 DIMM slots is NOT reference AMD MB design so it's a little trickier working out memory compatibility. I'm assuming this is the case with the KR-7 also. If you're using Crucial you might get lucky and fill up all 4 with unbuffered but YMMV. You definately can't do 4 with Mushkin basic unbuffered,

The KR7A manual says the u can use up to 3 gigs of unreg. mem. or 4 gigs of registered. It is runing fine with 2 sticks. So it is not worth it for me to send back. Everything else on the board is great. I guess I should have done a bit more reserch.
