well, they hand out MBAs like candy at most universities...however, since you actually have some experience, I would think it might be higher.

UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA is that even a real university or something like DeVry?

No. Its not like DeVry. Not at all. Student population of 44,000+. Fastest growing university in the nation, and is the 2nd hardest university to get into in Florida (behind UF). Their graduate program is also right behind that of UF. Higher standards than FSU, USF, UNF, FAU, etc.

If that's the case, then that job is what's wrong. Apply to corporate finance positions. Managing call centers don't really require MBAs anyways. Crunching numbers doing finance and accounting is where the money is at.

In all honesty though, any MBA program that accepts right after undergrad will not be worth the parchment the degree is printed on.

What industry is this company in and what is the position? It will give us a better undstanding if they low balled you. But as someone mentioned earlier, it appears they will not reward you for having an mba.

Your problem is UCF's Fulltime MBA program is not even in tier 2.

It is the insurance industry. My MBA is in Business Administration/Finance

Basically, I would manage a call center. I would not be answering phones. I would be managing those who answer the phones. Additionally, they would have me doing feasibility studies, scheduling, performance reports, as well as some finance and business analysis tasks. I would be reporting to a regional VP. That's about all I know about it :)

Absolutely. The job fair was Tuesday. About 20 firms asked me for my resume, and seemed genuinely interested in what I have to offer. This is just the first company that contacted me, and I expect to be hearing back from the others within the next few weeks.

Managerial jobs are typically not entry level. Based on the duties you described and who you will report to, the offer does seem like a low ball.

Is there any way you can find out how much similar companies pay for this position?

I think that is a lowball offer, depending on where you live.

But depending on job availability in your area, you could work there for 2 years, and then move on to a much better paying job. I think at roughly 2 years of experience, your MBA is not going to pack as much punch as if you had 4-5 years of solid experience.

That's a ridiculously low offer for you. You'll be offered more at another job; they're just trying to peg you, that's all.

hahaha, I remember last year when I ran in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge thing last year and I was behind two people with shirts for Deloitte & Touche and I couldn't stop laughing, I am so immature :p

They're obviously on crack, you should ignore them and proceed with the other job offers.

you don't need an MBA to get that job. but with the school you graduated from, i'd at least hope you graduated near the top of your class if you want any job at a highly respected firm.

It wasn't Sykes Enterprises offering you the job was it? Used to work for them and can explain the low wages to you quite well....

Beyond that, some of you are making false assumptions on the complexity and number crunching associated with running a call center. It's a low margin business usually and every minute spent on a phone by someone must be tablulated and associated costs figured in. Granted, it's not rocket science by any stretch, but it's not nearly as trivial as some of you have suggested.

Anyway, call centers are usually on the low end of the pay scale for the reasons stated above. They usually have a low profit margin.

Florida companies typically pay way worse than the rest of the nation. I learned this firsthand after Disney & Big Six made me an offer after I got my MBA from Top 3. In NYC, SF, the pay was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. :D

I understand the standard of living is lower in FL , but I was shocked that the companies in FL pay d!ck.

Managing a call center?

Please, anybody with a highschool diploma could do that. Running ACD reports? Click a button. No brains involved.

the pay is accurate for the position. There is alot more out there than managing a bunch of high school dropouts.

I was looking at the starting salaries for new MBAs. From what I have gathered, it seems to be within the 46K-52K range. That is for someone with no experience. I have 2 years of work experience. I got a call back today from one of the companies I spoke to, and they want me to come in for an interview. They told me the starting pay is around 30 for someone with a Bachelor's degree. I told them that I would have my MBA in May, but they say that they only offer 30 for MBAs also.

For those with MBAs, what range did you start at, or what is fair for someone in my situation?

what are the average salaries for your school? Go to the library or bookstore and look it up

I'm thinking about law school and after comparing the salaries I might not even go if I don't get into a good school. I make twice as much in IT without a degree as some law school graduates from lower end schools
