Failed NERO 7 installation in Vista...

Vista's starting to do my head in already but I guess it's just down to petulance. For some reason, when I try to delete the installation folder i.e. c:\program Files\Nero I get an error saying I need permission to delete it!!!!

I'm the only user and I'm obviously set up as an administrator. User Account Control (UAC) is turned off also.

How do I delete this bl***y folder? 😉

I've ran into a couple of folders left over from my WinXP Pro install that I get the same issue with. I'm the only account on the computer, obviously with administrative rights, but I still have UAC turned on. I've tried taking ownership of these folders and double and triple checked the permissions, but nothing works.

I'd like to know of a solution to this as well.

Nero 7 works fine with my Vista x64 HP,you tried reinstalling it?..Any option to remove it in Programs and Features, which is in Control Panel.

MechBgon - Good idea. With it being a new OS install I had not got round to switching it off. Unfortunately the last restore point is when I installed Nero 7 the first time.... D@am.

Mem - Which Nero 7 did you use? I have the "Vista approved version 7.7.5.1" but it doesn't install either. When I try to use the add and remove program it also doesn't work.

A little more information. I've managed to delete all the sub folders within the Nero 7 directory, all except 1 that is and this is the "Nero BackItUp" folder. I've deleted all the files within this folder except one dll. It's called NBShell.dll. I've tried to unregister it by using the following but to no avail. "Regsvr32 /u NBShell.dll".

I've noticed also that the installation has placed a "virtual drive" for want of a better description under My Computer and it's called "Nero Scout".

Any more ideas guyz? 😉

Shagga,using latest 7.7.5.1 .

Tried disabling AV on install?.....Sounds like something is effecting installation.

Well, thanks for the info on clean tool! 🙂 I've been messing with the registry for a while and got everything removed or so it seemed (but not convinced). The clean tool seemed to be having an effect although I can't be sure but either way I wish I knew about that firsts!...thanks for the info once again. 🙂

Right. Had another go with the official Vista approved update and well, it's painfull at best. This is the first time since version 3.x that I'm not going to have Nero installed. This needs sorting and sharpish. AHEAD...you listening? 🙁
