I recently had to change ISP's and when I installed the ISP software, (People PC), I encountered many difficulties, one of which was that the file search on XP Home does not work anymore on my profile. This feature still works on my wifes' profile, but on mine all I get is the little dog coming out and sitting down with no boxes to type in my search words. This happened once before while installing the ISP software and I was able to do a system restore to an earlier date and correct it, but now my computer will not restore to any dates that are previous to the latest install. The dates are there and it goes through the process, but is unable to restore. Has anyone ever heard of this and what can I do to correct these issues. BTW I switched to another ISP and, other than these 2 issues, everything else seems to work fine. Thanks.

You don't need the software. Don't install the software. - as to a fix for your current situation.. try UNinstalling the sw and see what happens. If nothing changes then try repairing the install w/ the XP disk.

Dont' use PeoplePC. Use a provider that doesn't require you to install software and just uses a standard dialup networking connection.

I did switch to an ISP that doesn't require software, and I uninstalled all of the People PC software, but the issues are still there.

This will fix the search problem - it should.

Go to run, then type in "regsvr32 jscript.dll"

Let me know if you can search now.

If nothing works, just create another user and transfer over whatever files you have. Then simply delete the problematic user account.
