failed a midterm worth 10% of my grade, is it possible to salvage this?

I failed with a 60%. Didn't prepare properly.
All of my other scores on homeworks and projects have been good. Based on my final grade calculation, 10% of your final grade appears to be insignificant. I'm hoping to pull an A....
Is it possible?

Chalk it up to a lesson learned, and remember to prepare better when the midterm is worth 40% of your grade.

Yeah, feel lucky that it was only worth 10%. I don't think I've ever had a course where the midterm was worth so little.

What was the class avg?

I've 'failed' all my midterms so far this semester in one of my classes, yet I still beat the class avg by almost 20 points. In the end I'll most likely end up with a B if I can keep that up.

For a college kid you're pretty dumb. You got a 60. You lost 4 points on your average. Do the math with all your exams. Then figure out if you have lost 10 points yet on your final average.

The fact that you are struggling to determine if an A is possible when you've lost 4/100 points tells me that the answer is no.

What's your major? A midterm worth only 10% combined with the fact that you consider 60% failing screams liberal arts or something. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just curious.

But yes, obviously you can still get an A. Is the cutoff for an A 90%? You're not giving us much info here.

at least you don't have to deal with three-hour finals worth 100% of your grade.

How old and what grade are you in? Depending on how you answer will determine my response.

On second thought, anything you respond with I'll just call you an idiot b/c this is some extremely basic math that you seem to be lacking.

I seriously hope this is just a troll attempt b/c there is no way you can't figure out how getting a 60% on a test that is worth 10% of your grade will affect your grade.

I got like 35% on a midterm once. I talked to the prof. about it, studied hard, and got 95% on the final, ended up with an A-.

Lol, I wouldn't call it a midterm if it's worth 10%. That's more like a quiz. So you got 6 final percentage points out of a possible 10. Just make up the 3% you missed an A by in your other work.

I got a D once in a midterm worth 50% of the grade as I had no idea what he really wanted. Professor said if you showed notable improvement on the final he'd weigh it more heavily. I ended up with an A in the final and the class, as he threw out my midterm grade.

Hell, I've only taken 1 mid term in the past few semesters. Unless thats 1 of 2 tests my teachers no longer bother with it.

Dude...if it's worth 10% of your total grade and you got 60% on it, then the highest possible you can get in the class should be 96%.

But seriously....are you dumb?

If this is a math class, then I don't think it's possible for you to salvage your grade.
