FAIL to bootup XP ?????

Since failing to update AVG and windows xp started to scan and restored some files, winxp can't bootup and shows the following message:

"wins can't start because system32/driver/ntfs.sys file is missing or corrupt"

I tried to restore a ghost image but dones't work. The same message still exist. And I attempted to bootup and reinstall winxp, it shows

"inf fileis corrupt or missing, status 2. setup cannot continue."
 
Check the basics. Run an overnight memory scan with Memtest86+ and do a couple of disk diagnostics scans using bootable CDs downloaded from the web sites of various hard disk makers.
