People love a good ad hominem attack, don't they?

Fact is that Ebert in his review made little in the way of opinions and just reflected what the movie had.

Although Moore's narration ranges from outrage to sarcasm, the most devastating passage in the film speaks for itself. That's when Bush, who was reading My Pet Goat to a classroom of Florida children, is notified of the second attack on the World Trade Center, and yet lingers with the kids for almost seven minutes before finally leaving the room. His inexplicable paralysis wasn't underlined in news reports at the time, and only Moore thought to contact the teacher in that schoolroom -- who, as it turned out, had made her own video of the visit. The expression on Bush's face as he sits there is odd indeed.
Interesting...

yeah, i want to see this:

"And he makes good use of candid footage, including an eerie video showing Bush practicing facial expressions before going live with his address to the nation about 9/11." -from the Ebert review

Like every President doesn't practice before going live on the air. Of course they do. So he shows Bush doing it and it looks crazy, but we don't have the video of Clinton doing it.

Ebert gets more cheese on the back end than any critic in history. To think his views are insightful is laughable. He is a well packaged marketing whore.

at least he gives plausable examples of his assertions, which is more than can be said about yourself.
It's not plausable that Ebert is an industry whore?

well, he is rather harsh on a ton of movies. white chicks 1 and a half stars. i've seen him give no stars to some movies like Freedy Got Fingered and the Life of David Gale.

First of all, what language is that? It certainly isn't English...

Second of all, it is NOT plausible that I am a martian as I have been registered and active here on AT since February, 2001 and Mars didn't get internet access until 2003...

Cool. I might have to go see this one by myself. My GF is away, and my roommates are Bush lovers.

i dont understand how anyone can love bush. i mean, if not anything else, the man cant speak! i think being able to speak properly and eloquently is one quality any leader should have.

he might be a nice guy, might be a caring husband and father...but he's simply not a good president

i don't know about you, but i usually find moore's films more entertaining than any hollywood comedy or action flick. I don't know if he'll be able to top Roger and Me though.

Are you kidding? A movie review is ALL opinion. It always is and always has been, the very nature of a review is to express an opinion on the content of the movie. That said I don't think Ebert is biased either way, his opinion of the movie focuses on the aspects of the movie that make it entertaining and not on the politics of the movie other than to warn the potential viewer of the poltitical tint of the movie.

I personally like Ebert's reviews, he's very technical and deals with the aspects of the movie that I like to know about before I see it, that said I don't always agree with his opinion of the movie.

Ok, so you like bias on the other side. There is no neutral party.

notice the only other review thread about this movie is a blatent bash of the film. I would argue that Ebert's review is much more neutral, notice how at the bottom he talks about Bowling for Columbine and some of the problems that film had.

And the movie(and the review) is a far more blatant bash of Bush.

oh, so you've seen it?

Don't have to.

Amen Brotha!
Hmm...I'd tend to think otherwise, as I've learned that many people haven't even seen the films they commentate on. At least reviewers do.
