Please take a look at this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2156439&highlight=

Basically I got a GT240 in November ran FAH graphics version 24/7 (except when I was gaming) until about two weeks ago when the card started overheating badly.

I've cleaned out the case, cleaned and reapplied thermal grease and still the temps start going through the roof when I start FHA graphics version.

Is there a decent low cost card that can handle FAH graphics?

I have some Gigabyte GTX460 1GB OC models, that run about 70-77C while folding. Get roughly 11000PPD per each card.

What's your budget? To echo what Larry said, the GTX 460 is pretty decent bang for the buck if you can afford it. I have two MSI Cyclone 460 768 MB in my GPU folding rig which I picked up for $120 each after MIR.

But definitely stick with Nvidia if you fold. The new ATI OpenCL core has made strides in improving PPD but Nvidia is still king for the moment.

Do you mean that you took apart the video card and reapplied thermal grease on the GPU heatsink?

I've never opened up a video card - but one time I had a really hard time getting a clump of dust out, I was to the point of thinking I would have to open up the card. I think I used a whole can of air on it

[thread=2156439]Yes, he did![/thread] I've never done that either. My GTX 460/768 is at 65C right now on PrimeGrid, so I don't plan to either.

The 560ti is a good card too, though pricey.
