Hmmmm I think the Rebel Alliamce needs more.more.more

I'd say so too... you're not going to let one guy with a few personal PCs kick your a$$ are you??? 😛

Since when is 20 a few?
And I don't plan on it.
😀

20??? It's really only... errmm... 17 or so! 😛 Ramp up that production big guy! It's fun to watch all the little standing skirmishes going on right now in the TeAm! In the end, the whole TeAm (and project of course) benefits!
I count duallies as two

Okay... I'll give you that then... 20 it is! What a nice round number... time to head down to the mailroom and see what showed up for me today 😀

heh heh... mailroom yielded a Netgear wireless B router and 5 wireless G NICs... this will allow me to spread the herd out at work a bit...

There are currently 8 PCs, 2 monitors, 1 KVM, 1 12-port hub, one 5-port switch and 1 4-port router in my cubicle... The heat generated by all these machines in one confined area is not so bad in the winter, but a bit much to handle in the supper. In another cubicle is an 8-port switch (hooked up with a long CAT5e to the 12-port hub in my cubicle) and 5 PCs.

I need the router because my network admin didn't want all these PCs consuming IP addresses on the corporate network. So, I have the corporate lan connection coming into the 5-port switch. Also plugged into that switch are my main work PC and the Linksys router. Plugged into the router, which has DHCP on so that all PCs that get plugged into it will be a different network from the corporate lan, are my main work PC (2 nics so I can see both lans and VNC into any of the machines), and the 12-port hub. Plugged into the 12-port hub are all the PCs in my cube, and the 8-port switch in the other cube. 😀

The new wifi router will either be plugged directly into the router in my cube, or into the switch in the other cube which is more in the middle of the office... makes more sense there I think. Once that is set up, I can start supplying 'space heaters' to folks around here who find it cold in the cubicles that don't need to be hardwired to my lan 😀

You must have both a very understanding employer to not mind paying for all that electric and a large cubicle to hold all that stuff. I wish I could get someone to pay my power bill.

They either haven't noticed the electricity (we have a *lot* of computers around here...) or just don't seem to care that much 🙂 They tolerate my hobby as long as I don't harm their network or install the client on any of the company PCs aside from my own.

The cubicle is not that large... maybe 8x12... I'll post a pic or two 🙂 Just tidied it up a few days ago... it was getting harder to get into!

hehe I have mine scattered all over the house to keep from blowing breakers
Nice stuff bty. I wish I could go wireless but by the time I brought wireless cards for 16 machines and wireless router I could build another machine or two. 🙂

GeoffS, you are pretty lucky. At my work I am the admin, so no need to worry. But I cannot imagine letting someone else do what I do. Too bad I do not have a reason to get more computers for legitimate reasons.... I only have access to 15 computers at work (only 11 are on 24/7) that I can use for FaD. Plus a few personal machines.

Speaking of which, I just got my Athlon64 3000+ up! But I am only at 2.2GHz right now, I would rather not up the voltage which is needed to make it stable above that.

Nice! I don't know why they tolerate it... but they do... I guess they figure what I do in my cube (for the most part) is my business... who knows... I just know that if I ever quit, I'll need a UHaul to get all my stuff out of there!
