EDIT:

I've been wondering about those CPU ratings... I have the following PC's running FaD:
o Pentium 4 2.8 Northwood @ 3.1
o Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2.1GHz

The P4 is averaging around 2x117 = 234.
The Athlon is averaging around 203.

The P4 is much slower than I would have expected compared to the Athlon, but then again I don't have other PC's to compare it to. Do these numbers look OK to you, or... ?

Hi guys, going to be gone for 3 days, be back Thursday night. Starting early tomorow, Beware of strange posts because of 3 cats that like to walk on keyboards.

Posts suggesting the demise of JTWill seem to be something akin to the election newspaper headlines about Dewey.

Yes, P4s seem to suck at just about everything! 😉

😛

Not when you can really use HT...

I do a lot of of really CPU/RAM intensive engineering calculations that tend to suck the life totally out of Non-HT and/or dual'ies, when you want to use the PC for other tasks at the same time... Example

What also suprised me was that an Athlon 64 3500+ @ 2.475GHz only did about 220 compared to the score of 200+ for the AthlonXP ??? TA-stats

lol... got a 2000+ on the way, a 2000+ waiting to be built, and am taking a bit of the tax cash to either get one of the dell sc420 servers or buy parts... doing what I can to stay ahead! 😛

I've got all the fixin's for a wonderful xp2000+ computer laying around in the drawer's and tubs just waiting for me to turn a screwdriver ...

Bought the bits tonight for the power drill 😛 Gonna go whacko with it 😛

Generic Case
Shuttle AN35N-400 Ultra
GeIL Golden Dragon Ultra PC3200 256 mb * 3
ATI Radeon 9500 64 mb
Western Digital 20 gb HD
Lite On 52x CD-R/W
LS-120
Round IDE Cables
400 W Aluminum PSU
Windows 2003 Server Standard or Windows XP Pro (haven't decided yet)
Athlon XP2000+ with a very slightly chipped core but it still works!
Evercool Solid Copper CUD-715 HS with Y.S. Tech 70mm TMD Fan instead of stock crap.
Arctic Silver 5
All Blue LED case fans (cutting a hole or two for 80mm fans in the side panel too!!)

What else do I need for a generic cruncher ??? oops ... ordering the Athlon-4 later this week after payday 😛

hmmm ... I could throw in an Adaptec SCSI Raid Controller and dual 9.1 GB SCSI drives ... and a SCSI CD-R/W ... that would be interesting ... got lots of parts in bins, drawers, tubs around here ... but most of you probably already figured that out
