The dead mobo is an ECS K7S5A ... I have a (new in box) Shuttle AN35N400 Ultra which wasn't committed to anything ...

Seems like a fine upgrade to me .... 😉

Has happened to me with several of those K7S5As.... I generally don't replace them with K7S5As when then go. In my experience, the ram & cpu & everything else should be fine. Nonetheless... a moment's silence...

I also use the AN35N and it has always served me good. Has some nice OC potential if you want to venture into tha realm.

I too have been "forced" to retire about half of the K7S5A's I put into service.
They were, however, cost effective systems at the time so I don't feel bad about that.
