So I just heard that Apple is now selling a $0.99 FaceTime app for Macs in the app store.

Supposed to be included in the new MacBook Pros.
Honestly I'm not sure what they're trying to do by charging for it. It's not that $0.99 is an unreasonable amount, but shouldn't they want to maximize the number of people who have FaceTime capability? I mean, a lot of people won't get it specifically because it costs money, no matter how cheap it is.
Are there any open source FaceTime clients? Isn't FT supposed to be built on open standards?
