For a long time I'd been going to Myspace. (Yes, I know it's like the plague around here.) I found all kinds of family and friends on there that I hadn't seen in years. For a while now, people have been trying to get me to go to Facebook and I resisted because I'm so used to how Myspace works, that I was just comfortable and didn't want to mess with it.

So I go on there tonight and find TONS of old friends and some family members on there. (Facebook) I was totally shocked. I'm getting the hang of it now. Not too bad.

One thing though.....

Those of you that are from AT on there...there should be a requisite that there be your real name and your AT name on there so I know who the hell I'm talking to. My memory can't handle real names. I can barely keep AT usernames straight! 😕 lol

Welcome to the club, Facebook is much nicer than MySpace 🙂 I don't have any AT members in my list, I prefer to reserve Facebook for IRL friends only. But yes, it's amazing how many people you can find on Facebook, and the friend recommendation engine is astoundingly good.

I found my aunt on there. I didn't even know she got online, much less know about Facebook, but her daughter is on there (so I found out) which I suppose shouldn't surprise me.

I guess I'm old fasioned. The farthest I went was IM clients, I refuse to use Facebook and Myspace.

Conan put it best when he said they will all combine into one ultimate time wasting website called "YOUTWITFACE".

I disagree.

you can't really rice out your facebook page. that makes it better than myspace by a mile.

I've also had far less problems with spammers on FB than MS.

I'm probably one of the only people around who doesn't have a facebook account. I don't see the point of it. Why would I want to reconnect with someone? If I'm not already "connected" to someone, then they obviously weren't important enough.

This is mostly my mentality as well, but it's really hard not using it these days. So many social events are scheduled over it, as well as educational/professional communications. It shouldn't be that way, but people are lazy, so it is.

if nothing else, I find that it's super convenient as a web-based IM client.

I'm on Facebook, but I only have 2 ATers as friends. I don't really use it much aside from keeping in touch with a few people I do not see very often.

you've been saying that forever, how long did you spend on FB? People tend to be themselves more there than myspace... the whole real identity thing and the whole real friends thing. Of course if you friend random people it's not going to be the same experience. Of course if you don't have real friends on there that share, then it's totally pointless.

Importance has nothing to do with getting busy with life... kids, distance, jobs, etc. The whole point is that it's interesting to know or casually chat with someone from the past. It's not for everyone but it doesn't make it useless. The other day a HS friend announced he got a new job... the same company as me now. We lost touch after he joined the navy. We talk it up again as if nothing's changed 13 years later.

BTW, myspace can't make that happen.
