Facebook notification for deleted comment?

Random question... if I post a reply to a Facebook comment, then decide a couple hours later to delete it, will the original poster still see the notification that I made a comment?

And what if the original poster has been offline the whole time (they were last active 4 hours ago, and this conversation within their post happened in the last couple hours)? Normally they would log in and see all the notifications from when they were offline... if I post and then delete my comment all before they log in, then will they still have that original notification waiting for them?

Sorry if it's a dumb question. Let's just say I replied to someone who was being an asshole to the OP, and realized later I was probably just making it worse for the OP, so I'm hoping for a clean "undo". If they see the notification it's not the end of the world as my reply will be gone anyway, but hoping they won't.

They will likley have a notification, but if they click on it to take them to that posting they will receive an error

My memory is foggy but I kinda remember one time clicking on a notification on a Facebook post I had commented on that there was a new comment on it. The notification was there, but when I clicked through the entire post was gone so I went nowhere. That could relate to your question.

You can run a test. Just work with one of your facebook friends to make a post, then comment on it, then delete it and see what their notifications do.

Yeah I'm fairly sure it it will still send them a notification of a comment, but it likely won't show the comment if you deleted it. Not sure if using the mobile version of Facebook (not Messenger) is different, but it doesn't even tell you anything about the comment, just says "_____/x people also commented one ____'s post"

They will also get an email notification which I believe includes what you wrote. I wonder if there is a delay before it sends that email or if it sends right away. That is one good way to get screwed even if you delete the comment. 😛

Only if they have email notifications turned on.
There's a million possible variables/scenarios here.

If notifications like "1" pop up real-time (ajax?), why can't the notification number (and the blurb about a new comment) decrease by 1 real-time if the comment is deleted? I realize it has to be programmed that way, but you guys make it sound like it can't happen?

I have often wondered if the recipient still sees a notification of "like" when I accidentally like their post and take it away. Highly doubt it.
