Facebook messing up my logo colors

I'm trying to put a logo graphic on a Facebook product page and when I upload it, Facebook's graphic conversion thing makes it look like shit. There are only two colors on this logo, black and red. It should only have those two colors when it displays there. It looks fine when I add this same PNG file to a page, or just open it in a browser, or whatever.

Upload to FB and it looks like a low-quality jpeg. Like it's trying to blend colors with a low file quality setting, but there are no fucking colors that need blending.

Wtf. Anyone have any ideas here or is this just some stupid thing I can't get around?

I've tried saving it as jpg, png, bmp, tiff, it doesn't seem to matter. It's not large at all. Even if I have it down to exactly TWO colors, even if those two colors are part of the 'web safe' palette (in 2011...) it still ends up with like 20 shades of red blended together.

I've been messing around with the hue/saturation a bit but this pretty much gives you the idea:

Seems that even if I strip it down completely to JUST one black and one red (which makes the edges look worse) it still does this. It's not the end of the world but it definitely doesn't look as good as it should.

It's compressed. Unless there is a lower threshold of file size where they don't convert it to JPEG, there's nothing you can do except use a different image host.

I'd try GIF if you haven't yet.

Yeah those are JPG compression artifacts. It's stupid, they must be using a flat percentage on all images instead of making a smart decision based on the size of the image. 🙄 As mentioned try GIF. If that doesn't work probably nothing will 🙁

Yeah, tried gif. Same deal.

They only support jpg, bmp, png and gif if I remember right. Definitely not svg, I thought of that too but it doesn't support it.

So basically it seems there's no alternative. Can't host it myself as far as I know, it has to be uploaded/converted by their site.

I think I understand why all the companies I've looked up have things other than the logo in that spot, Coke/Pepsi both have pictures of cans or bottles.

Damn it Zuckerberg.

Also, I've tried basically the smallest possible file size and it's the same. Minimum resolution is 180x180 and no change.

I guess I'll have to do something like the can/bottle thing, or just deal with a sub-par image on there. Regardless of opinions on social media, it's a great way to advertise when the budget is basically nonexistent.

When they say they only support those file formats it means those are the only ones they can import but they must be converting them ALL to JPG otherwise using png or gif would solve the problem.

I'll give that a shot. Would like total consistency but this definitely looks bad as is.

Thinking that eventually I'll go with a photo of a product instead probably.

Ok so far graphics are very very nice. Textures are indeed rather low res on my 30in display but nothing horrible. Game feels very immersive but also very familiar. So if you liked Oblivion you will know what to expect more of the same but better done. If you didn't like Oblivion this game probably will not change your mind.

FRAPS shows that I'm getting 30fps in some places outside at 2560x1600 but I didn't have it running during the intro where I was clearly getting less than 30 so during heavy battle sequences I think I'm getting like 15fps. However it looks like crossfire is not in use now so I should get much better frame rates when a profile comes out.

One thing that worries me is that I've already had 3 crashes to the desktop in 90min. WTF? Hope this gets better.

Skyrim thread?
